When you guys setup emails for IVS is it coming from the camera itself or the NVR? I can only get it to send from the camera even though the NVR will send other email alerts just fine.

The price difference at B&H between the 8-channel and 16-channel is astounding

I thought this has POE ports, why are some saying it does not?

Are you using all 16 ports on your NVR? I'm in need of only 5 cameras, and wanted a 8-channel NVR. However, I've been recommended to skip the 8-channel POE version of this model and go 16-channel entirely as the price difference is little.

Would the apps and push notifications still work if you were using the PoE of the NVR?

No it isn't. I currently have mine installed on a shelf in my cabinet. If I am not mistaken I do believe the NVR5416 which is 1.5RU can be rack mounted.
I have the 5416 and yes it is rack mountable.

Have you come across anything that sounds or is better than the iDMSS app for apple ? Our work computers are on lockdown so I cannot even get to my home server by any means.

During the day I use my iphone to access everything remotely and would like to keep my options open if there is a better app to access the NVR. I keep a watchful eye on the property, dog and kids.

iDMSS is the only thing thats gona receive push notifications and allow you to review recordings on iOS

@CaliGirl uses it and had issues with it crashing, but I think she made some codec changes on the NVR and that fixed the issue.. think she was overloading the app with too high of a bitrate on the substream IIRC

The way that you have your system hooked up not using any of the PoE ports how many cameras can you connect to the system that way? As many as you want?
For this model, still only 16 cameras

Interesting, that explains why Andy was recommending me the 16-channel over the 8-channel, haha
