    New Install Camera Identification conundrum

Wow, thanks. A lot of great ideas for keeping track once I get them sorted this time. I like the static IP and subnet concept @quest100 100 and @diver165 suggested but do not know how to do any of that yet, so I'll do some googling on the topic. I appreciate the tips and direction!

    New Install Camera Identification conundrum

Installed the Dahua Config tool and it ID'd 6 of them! Thanks! What do you typically select form Make \Model when adding cameras? I can select Dahua for those cams but then most of them have ever been listed specifically. So keep the default MS RSTP selection?

    New Install Camera Identification conundrum

And there they are!... I do not have this many cameras so I assume this is everything like TV's IP phone, etc. So, I guess, just start entering them in one at a time in BI w a generic name and see if it connects and what shows up then rename?

    New Install Camera Identification conundrum

I just installed BI on a new computer after a HD failure and realized I also lost my note file which listed the IP addresses and names for each my dozen or so cameras. :banghead: So now I have no idea what any of the camera's IP addresses are for any of my cameras for setup and if I had a list...

    BI Upgrade Cost Question

Thanks Dumb question but I see there is a "DownloadBI5" and a "download most recent update" file on their site. Do I need to run both the initial download then the update when installing?

    BI Upgrade Cost Question

I have been running on an older early 5.x version for a while now and have not renewed for some time as the version I had was working fine and did not need the additional features or support. After replacing my HD and a new Windows install, I want to update to the most recent 5.x version...

Should I go new SSD or whole new computer?

Hmm... Hope the current SATA won't be disabled when using this NVMe M.2 That is the board basically except mine is green but all the same stuff\layout. Thx

Should I go new SSD or whole new computer?

I believe this is correct for it. I have not used one before. It says M.2 SSD socket 3, Key M" Not sure what the keyM part means but from what I searched it should work even though I believe this board it said was PCIE3 and the SSD was PCIe4, it should be backward compatible so just won't...

@Oldtechguy66 "sleeved the exposed parts." ? What do you use? Should one just cover any exposed cable with a basic plastic or metal electrical conduit? Some tiny critters got to my CAT5 which was technically not, visibly "Exposed" outside but run under the deck between the framing and a closed...

    PC/NVR for multiple cameras?

How do you RTSP a Wyze cam to connect it to BI for recording? I also thought as above the only option was a firmware replacement.

Should I go new SSD or whole new computer?

I just found and ordered a Samsung 990 PRO NVMe 2TB for $170. Not too bad a price these days and it was about the same price as the SATA. So that will free up the SATA connection to use for an additional WD Purple for addtl storage. So this should work out well. I'll keep an eye out for an 8th...

Should I go new SSD or whole new computer?

OK thanks all! From this discussion I think I'll just replace the SSD and keep this machine going a little longer. Sounds like some research will need to be done to figure out if there is a work-around to Win 11 but prob not since the MB, it appears from specs, can only accept up to a 7700 chip...

Should I go new SSD or whole new computer?

After tuning the BI params and tweaks, (using substreams, etc. based on the forum recommendations), my CPU was generally always running around 20% W 5% flux either direction at any given moment. It was not a big diff W HA on or off. It does have an optical drive but wanted to use that for an...

Should I go new SSD or whole new computer?

So after months of random issues and wasted time testing everything out, my SATA SSD crapped out. Other than that my system is, "old" but ran decent. I used it primarily for BI w\ about 10 2MP Dahua cameras but also for VM Horizon work from home + basic internet ever since the Covid New world...

Suggestions for indoor wifi cameras with Blue Iris for occasional use when traveling

Oh, Sorry, somehow missed that even though it was in the title! Wyze does not work with BI out of the box. They used to have a firmware replacement they provided which allowed it to work, (added RTSP \ ONVIF compatibility?), but not familiar with it, how much trouble it would be or if the...

Suggestions for indoor wifi cameras with Blue Iris for occasional use when traveling

IMO the Wyze V3 cams work great for this. Roughly $30-$40 bucks. Pretty small form factor. Both the still and the Pan\Tilt V3 have better color night view and better IR night vision than the prev gen.I have a similar setup w Diahua outdoor cams + BI but inside I've been very happy with the...

    BI Freezing\not recording

Well, turning off HA does not seem to change the CPU load but I'll leave it off to see if stability changes. The computer is used Deleting the clips.dat file and running repair\regen completed this time but it did not recognize any of the files other than today. There are about 5,300 .bvr files...

    BI Freezing\not recording

So confusing. BI was performing fine until a few weeks ago. I thought the whole point of using HA was to reduce CPU usage but you are showing more? I'll also try turning it off and check the CPU usage BI reports. Thanks

    BI Freezing\not recording

H @bp2008 i, thanks for the reply. Running an older ver. of 5 (5.2.9.2) but it's more than I need for my purposes and was stable so have not upgraded. Using sub streams. Using hardware accl decode (set to Nvidia NVDC). Have always done both to the the CPU down to its current 15%-20% Will try...

    BI Freezing\not recording

Lately BI has been behaving oddly in a deteriorating manner. Examples are: The interface freezing up, (appears as if cameras were paused but they are not) Not recording from any cameras when this occurs. The application window hangs or just refuses to close. (cannot always end-task and forces a...

Can I use Dahua IVS rules if I have an SD card?

Oooh, Thanks! Guess I have not read the BI updates in a while. Always thought that was not possible long ago, (early ver 4) and never dug around further in V5. So, why, "uncheck the Motion zones" in your 2nd to last step? Why not have BI also do its thing as well on the zones I set up? Or can...

USB External HDD a good idea for expanding backup storage?

You wouldn't think one would need month old footage...but I'm a procrastinator. Had a project at the house and I've been "meaning to" grab footage of some of what the workers were doing on specific days. Somehow 3 months later I'm getting around to it and realize it's all gone. :rolleyes...

USB External HDD a good idea for expanding backup storage?

I was at Costco and saw they had a Seagate 14TB Expansion Desktop Hard Drive for $149. I have been skimming older posts on thoughts of using external HDDs and seeing mixed opinions but fairly old commentary. I was thinking it is a pretty cheap way to extend my backups longer than a few weeks to...

Can I use Dahua IVS rules if I have an SD card?

I have Dahua cameras but use BI, not a Dahua NVR. So when I set IVS rules in the camera they would not trigger any recording for BI but I was wondering, if I installed SD cards in them, would IVS rules set in the camera trigger alerts and write to the SD card? Just asking vs. testing bc it...

Hikvisions newest Pro Series Hybrid cameras

I have tried intrusion and line cross (in BI), object size mins, etc. but when a car headlight, for example, sweeps by, the light change checks the boxes for a line cross or intrusion. Or a small moth or spider close to the screen is huge of course so it negates the object size settings. Seems...

Hikvisions newest Pro Series Hybrid cameras
