Under IE 11 click the setting cog on the right top corner, then third from the bottom of the menu that appears is compatibility view settings. I added the camera IP(s) for the INC-MP20V cameras to that list. My AXIS cameras dont have any issues needing compatibility mode

HELP!!!

Hi folks.

My mom (84) got totally burned by a fly by night idiot parading as a "camera Security expert" who overcharged her and sold her a 4 channel system using an Hikvision DVR. I cannot reach the guy (no surprise) and the password to setup the system is unknown. I used the SADP tool to send Hikvision the xml file and was told the unit is apparently grey market, so go away we won't help you. I'm angry they don't support end users caught in this web as I assume this happens CONSTANTLY.

The password reset described here failed: Hikvision Password Reset Tool

I'd love to finally get this piece of crap working for her rather than buying a brand that isn't Hikvision, and spending more $$$.

Do I have any other options?

Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide.

Hi all, stumbled across this forum while trying to reset password on Hikvision camera which currently has IP address 192.168.31.108.
Plugged the camera to separate POE to be able to see it on SADP.
Already submitted file (generated last night) to Hik support and received xml file back today.
Support noted that the file is valid for 24h.
Uploaded file via SADP but still no avail. When attempted SADP comes up with message "failed to reset password. device denied"
Any help would be appreciated.

PS.
I've disabled the antivirus and firewall as well

I rarely use the Hikvision reset. Because its easier& quicker to open the SD slot door and hardware reset it. Even working for a dealer on one of their clients that bought through that chain, its a pain and a long wait . And sometimes, I have to submit it again on the web form.

Might be my mistake, but already tried the hardware reset with no luck.
Followed this procedure:
1. press reset button and hold
2. power off camera POE port from NVR while holding reset button
3. power on camera POE port from NVR
4. keep holding button for 20 seconds and release

its almost correct. but you don't have to hold down the reset while powering down, and I find 30-45 seconds is the time window on some of them even though they say in the documentation 25 sec.

So try:
power off camera,
hold reset button down and power it on and keep it pushed for 30-45 seconds

No luck there. Still keeps the same IP address

Hi all,

I’m really struggling to reset the admin password of a Hikvision DS-7204HQHI-F1/N.

The DVR is active and is running firmware V3.4.4build 160405

I have tried the following methods.

1). Default passwords ‘12345’ , ‘123456’, etc.
2). SADP xlm file shared with Support. Have not had a response and looking to solve this relatively quickly.
3). Backdoor exploit, i.e append ‘/System/configurationFile?auth=YWRtaW46MTEK’ to the device IP. I get “Access Error: 404 — Not found”
4). The ipcamtalk.com password reset tool. Loading the code into the SADP tool “forgot password’ dialogue box. I get “Failed to reset Password:device denied’
5). Opening up the device. But there is no reset button.

Am I doing something wrong here? Any advice would be much appreciated.

Hi, any body that can help. I bought a Hikvision/hilook NVR with 4 cameras and installed myself, while trying to integrate it to my home assistant I did something really stupid and managed to change and lose the password of one of the cameras. So no I have 3 working and 1 that says user name/password error.

NVR-108MH-D/8P / firmware V4.30.080 b210412 /
encoding version V5.0 b 210320 / Web version V5.0.1 b 201029 ,plug in v3.0.7.51
Cameras are: IPC-250H / V5.5.89 b 210429 / DSP V7.3 b 210207

I have donwloaded the lastes SADP program, generated the file and send to hikvision 4 times now, and the file I receive never works ( I have try inside the 24hr limit), Have used older SADP 2.0 as well and Batch Configuration program without success.

I have my laptop connected via ethernet cable to the NVR, with manual IP: 192.168.254.30, the IP of the camera I want to reset is 192.168.254.5. I'm able to ping the camera. SADP and Batch configuration program area able to see the camera. Firewall is off and programs run as administrator.

All the Tools I have found are for older Firmware versions so they have not worked.

Anybody can help?????

I was looking into TFTP, but not sure how do you chose which camera to flash the firmware to. I don't have a POE router/switch, so the easiest way to have it powered is through the NVR. would i have to disconnect the other cameras to run TFTP? o what other recomendations you have?

Hi all. I locked myself out from a DS-2CD2352-I. Made a mistake with saving a generated password. After reading hundreds of forum posts, I need to ask for some specific help.

I try to use the Hikvision Password Reset Tool. The camera is discovered by SADP. Status is Active, version 5.5.82, build 190220. I restarted the camera to be sure about the local date. I continuously get error 2022 when I try to use the generated key, but I think none of the mentioned reasons applies to my situation. I also tried SADP on both Windows and macOS. For the serial number, I tried the full string including the model name, the string without the model name, and just the 9 last digits.

I also tried using the much described backdoor to extract the current password, but I only get 404 errors when I browse to http://<camera-ip>/System/configurationFile?auth=YWRtaW46MTEK. Even tried with Internet Explorer on Windows 10, with Compatibility View turned on.

What am I missing (apart from the password), and what should I do?

Hi Melvin, I'm in a similar situation, that password reset tool only works for older firmware, if you see the page is for 5.3.0 and older, so it will not work. I have tried that, I have tried support from hikvision and every time I receive the file I get an error " device Denied". Something that you don't find easily is that those files from hikvision support are only valid for 24hrs, usually if you try after 24hrs the error changes to : Error 2022, so maybe worth trying to request a new file and trying inside the 24hrs.

My camera is a IPC-T250H but has a newer version of firmware: 5.5.89. my next attempt was to downgrade the firmware. So far I have been able only to downgrade to 5.5.82 but that hasn't reset the camera to factory settings. Now I'm trying to get an older firmware and see if that would reset the camera.

Getting the tftp to work was a whole other rabbit hole, as the server provided by hikvsion is pretty crappy, so I had to learn how to install Windows subsystem for linux, install ubuntu and run a script for the server, and it is better if you have only the camera and your computer connected via switch with nothing else.

link to the github for python3 script:

video related to the script:

That has been my troubleshooting so far, hope it can help a bit

I finally managed to reset the password:
  • I removed the camera from where I had it installed
  • Used a power supply (12v 2A) to power it up
  • connected the camera to a switch LAN port
  • connected my PC to the same switch with an Ethernet cable and manual IPv4 int he same range as the one from the camera
  • Disconnected everything else from the switch.
  • Open Batch Configuration software and generated the XML file. Left then program with the window for generating the XML open, camera was left running aswell.
  • sent the email and waited for the repply from hikvision support. took them 1.5hrs to repply
  • downlaoded the received XML file
  • Went back to Batch Configuration software pointed the software to the xml file, typed new password and this time worked.
I had tried with batch configurator and SADP before , but it was always connecting my laptop to the NVR with Manual IP, this way I was able to ping the camera and hadn't had to go on to a ladder to remove it from its position. This camera is part of my home setu, so usually was working at night on it, so my requests for xml file were replied next morning and I would only try once at home that same day or next day, so many times I was over the 24hrs period.

What I believe made the difference this time was that:
  • Nothing else was on the network, only my PC and the camera connected the switch.
  • Maybe that I left the configurator tool open?
hope it is of help for anybody.
