    Wifi range extender (poe)?

@tangent The router I think was ~$120, maybe a little less. I'm not sure I need anything more than an access point and so maybe I should compare cost. If you are familiar with them, is ~$120 more or less than you'd expect to pay for a decent AP? I'm guessing more, considering it is a router and...

    Wifi range extender (poe)?

Thanks guys. Fenderman - guess I should have looked into that a bit more. I saw it advertised when I bought the router but figured it was some gimmicky thing. I'll check out the links, appreciate it!

    Wifi range extender (poe)?

Hey there - This isn't at all related to BI or my security camera system. I'm not planning on adding any wifi cameras. Currently I'm using this TP-Link RE210 wifi range extender in my house which has worked alright, but I'm wondering if I can't do better now that I have the ability to run my...

    Anti Virus Recommendations? (not Norton)

Don't really want to get involved with the political side of this thread - please don't assume that means I'm against you guys & NRA... I just wanted to chime in and say that I've been using Bitdefender for the last few years and have been very happy with it. You can usually find a decent deal...

Build my computer for me :)

Weird... can you hide menu items? I see "Wiki" between Members and What's New? I'm also using the light theme, maybe it is an issue with the dark theme? (edit) confirmed - no Wiki link with the dark theme enabled.

    CPU usage creeping up slowly

Just a quick FYI that I was indeed suffering from this Intel Driver problem. In the evening I'd be at around 85-90% usage. I stopped auto updates of drivers and installed 4664 and so far I'm on a day+ with ~20% cpu usage.

    CPU usage creeping up slowly

Just this morning I checked on my BI system before heading to work and I noticed my cpu usage was pretty high (~90%). I did some poking around and noticed that one or two of my three cameras was reporting only 2-3 fps. A quick reset of these cameras got the fps back up around 19 (expected) and...

Would appreciate a quick primer for Dahua settings please

I'm curious - in the Dahua settings the two types of cameras I have were both automatically set to reboot/reset on a daily basis. Is this needed? Do most disable this? Thanks

Continuous recording while also showing alerts?

@srg775 Did you move your folders around? Could it be that your db is pointing at an old location for 'New" and that your recently changed it? If so, you can copy your images and video to the new 'New' folder and it should work. Also, you might try watching these videos - shed a lot of light on...

Continuous recording while also showing alerts?

Fenderman was right, not surprisingly :) - on your record tab, try 'Create alert list images when triggered'. I also use 'JPEG snapshot each - only when triggered' and 'Include JPEGs on 'All clips' & timelines' as well. Try that first one and go walk in front of your camera.

Continuous recording while also showing alerts?

@srg775 probably need to see what is setup in the 'Configure...' button. Also, Alerts tab?

    4.6.9 - January 31, 2018 H.265 hardware decoding added

Out of curiosity, how are you viewing your CPU usage? I just setup a 'new' system for BI (i5 6400, 8gb ram) and if I am remoted into the system with the BI admin interface open my CPU usages hovers around 50%. However, if I'm not remoted in, not in the admin console and viewing the system usage...

    Asus RT-AC68 router OpenVPN setup

That's interesting - I pretty much feel the complete opposite. I came from a tp-link router which, while decent, seemed a little flaky at times. The ac-68u was a breeze to setup and it's been rock solid for a few months now. I know about Merlin but have yet to go down that path as the standard...

Would appreciate a quick primer for Dahua settings please

Ok, continuing to search and find bits of info... hopefully someone can confirm this. If you choose a manual, customized exposure range Shutter 0 ~ 10 (ms) should equal 1/100 or faster?

Would appreciate a quick primer for Dahua settings please

Hi there - rather than make a new thread I figured my question would go perfectly in here. I've searched the forums some and even read some Dahua documentation, but I'm not finding what I'm looking for... Or i'm not finding it in terms my dummy brain can process right now. The problem I have is...

Dahua 4k Starlight with 1/2 sensor (CVI only for now)

Same thing happened to me. Something to do with cookies i think... First time I opened @fenderman 's link it didn't work, second time, after I had picked my region, it worked.

    VPN & Connecting to BI

Thanks @fenderman - used the LAN address in both boxes and this did the trick. I guess the android app must try both available addresses, where as the ios app does not - only way I can explain that. Appreciate the help!

    VPN & Connecting to BI

Hi there - I'm not sure this is really a BI problem, but I wasn't sure where else to put it. I'll do my best to explain the situation but am not in front of the system and do not currently have access. I have an Asus RT-AC68U running OpenVPN. I originally only setup my own phone which was...

    Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

    In case anyone is interested: (if I've done my maths correct) x = EquivMM - 2.7 / .00664 (plug in the EquivMM you want, solve for x) 2.7mm = 0 3.6mm = 135 6mm = 500 8mm = 800 10mm = 1100 12mm = 1400 Thanks again for the formula!

    Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

Ok I lied - forum searching got me this: f(F) = (F - Fmin) / (Fmax - Fmin). Looking at your equasion @tangent I was good until swRange. I'm not following what that is? Software range? 0-1400? What about currentSetting? 2.7?

    Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

Thanks @looney2ns - working like a charm. Ok, last question from me tonight, has anyone taken the time to figure out how 0-1400 might be correlated to mm, maybe documented it someplace? I'm trying to compare default 2.7mm (close enough to 2.8) vs 3.6.

    Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

    Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

Seems like this should be obvious, but for the life of me I can't figure out how to adjust the focal length... Can anyone help me out with this? Is it a manual adjustment or via the config - I've looked at both places. Also, one other question - is there anywhere to see what your current focal...

    Front door ID camera IPC-HDBW4231F?

I'm sure I'm missing something easy, but how the heck do I do these two things: > Adjust the focal length of the ipc-hdw5231r-z? > See what focal length I'm currently at? PS - @tangent - picked up one of those honeywell switches and installed it today, looking forward to seeing how it works.

    Blue Iris UI3

This may be a stupid question, but I'm new to BI and really this whole security camera thing... sorry, I'm the FNG with a question... Is the web interface on BI or more specifically your updated web UI designed to be a replacement for regularly launching the application on the BI server? Are...

    Front door ID camera IPC-HDBW4231F?

Yes, definitely still a test. Hopefully this week. Yeah, porch light is on at night, provided we remember to turn it on. Maybe I need to automate that somehow. Being that this mini-dome wedge is a starlight, it should have decent night time recording. If we leave the light off, it will be...

    Front door ID camera IPC-HDBW4231F?

Hey @looney2ns my front door is over 8' tall! I'm going to go under the house this afternoon I think and I'll take a closer look at the doorbell wall. I don't recall how much the concrete slab interferes. Thanks for the advice on the optics and time for testing. PS - I love your avatar!

    Front door ID camera IPC-HDBW4231F?

Depth in that pic is not great to get a sense for where I was trying to place the dot. I'm definitely going to test as close to the white trim around the door as possible - not directly above doorbell. Thanks for your reply!
