NVR or NAS or both?

Hello everyone, :highfive:

I am currently setting up a surveillance system in my second home and would like to store the recordings in my first home on a NAS.
The question now is whether I need an NVR (Network Video Recorder) in my second home to store the videos temporarily, or whether this is also possible without an NVR.

I'm planning to buy a Synology NAS and I'd like to buy the cameras from Andy.
My idea is to simply specify an FTP server (Synology) in the web interface of the cameras, so that the recordings are sent directly there when motion is detected, for example.

Is this feasible?

Thanks in advance for your help :)

Read what Synology did in latest firmware update...

removed h.265 support and removed motion detection done on Synology.
there is lot of pissed people by latest Synology changes..

The simplest solution is NVR...
Normally You put NVR per site (locally with cameras) and connect to it using P2P from any place..

With latest Dahua 4xxx-EI/5xxx-EI NVRs there is possibility to connect some remote cameras (from other site / network / internet connection) over P2P to NVR.. there is no need for VPN or DDNS / open ports on router.

In that situation You don't need NVR at second site, all cams from both sites records to one NVR.
But this solution is more prone to problems and failures than connecting cameras locally to the NVR.
