I decided to buy one of the 5842 to see how it compares to the 5442. Based on that I will replace or augment the rest of the cams. We have LED lights on all night long so I am hoping that the 5842 will perform similarly to the 5442.

I was reading up on some other stuff and came across the IPC-T5449H-ASE-D2. So I checked this forum. Maybe I should have bought this cam instead of the 5842. Looks pretty impressive compared to the 5442 and probably even more impressive compared to the 5842.

That's a dual sensor, 1/1.8" and a 1/2.8", camera. It does, indeed, perform even better than a 5442 I believe. I don't think it's available in anything other than a 3.6mm lens though which may not be appropriate in all situations.
Thanks, I just posted in the thread about that camera. It looks like that is what I should have gotten. It's not all bad, though. In the front we have pretty good illumination throughout the night so the 5842 might still be an ok choice. The side don't have good lightning so maybe I will get one of those dual lens cams for that. The back has reasonably good illumination but maybe the dual lens cam is still better for that, especially because we have some motion activated flood lights from the side (for the dog and BBQing) while a face would more likely be at 90 degree from that, i.e. high contrast.
I see that Dahua N85DJ6Z is mentioned earlier in this thread and it's confirmed to be the same camera as the IPC-T5842T-ZE.
I'm wondering if the Dahua N85DJ6Z is the same camera that Lorex is OEMing for their LNE9282B/LNE9292B models.

Look at the image sensor sizes. N85DJ6Z is 1/1.8, LNE9282B/LNE9292B are 1/2.8 .

LNE9282B/LNE9292B is the IPC-HDW5831R-ZE, this model we stop selling 1 year ago. Use the 1/1.8cmos would be better.
I think the LNE9282B/LNE9292B is the IPC-HDW3841T-ZAS.

oh, that is a normal 4k camera, not work good at low light place.
IPC-T5842T-ZE will do bit better.
IPC-T5842T-ZE will do bit better.
Roger that, my usage scenario is one that is well lit at all times. So far so good with this unit.
