Hikvision as a brand

Sure I can add upfront too, but buried in my wall of text LOL is this:

OR maybe someone can run 30FPS when they matched camera and NVR brand, but using a 3rd party VMS is what causes problems.

Ahhhhh missed that. My apologies

I get it, you do a great job of explaining to newbs that way, I don't have the patience

off topic, i know it's recommended to have 1:1 fps:iframe

what if the setup is 1:2, so two iframe per second, other than having a bigger file size, what would be the drawback?

If using an NVR, not much.

If using BI, then it can be a delay between going from substream to mainstream, and if using BI motion detection, it can potentially miss motion.

Theoretically lesser quality in high motion/busy scenes.

In practice (NVR) I haven’t seen much difference. Though you may notice it in playback on a timeline as the marker “jumps” to find the next Iframe

one more question, if you look at the grass, you can see the flickering / "pixel shifting" and it seem to match the iframe refresh (it will show a 1:1 too but 1:2 is more extreme)

is it possible to fix this?
