I think this question should be in it's own thread...
Try if it works with IE or Firefox ESR, modern browsers killed the APIs that the camera plugins need.
Yea, i don't mean to hijack the thread.
I just really wanted to get your attention, and was hoping your very impressive work with the firmware might get me a quick "yea, sure, that's easy".
But yea, I've reinstalled the plugins a lot, and in different browers and orders and I haven't found a working permutation yet. :(

just use SmartPSS; or keep reinstalling the different plugins..
Yea, this was the exact answer Dahua gave, but SmartPSS gets confused with my different models (especially trying to keep PTZ active) when in a 2x2 overview grid, and I'm really not a fan of it.
Plus, somehow, running these 4 in 4 different tabs in FF, plus 1 hikvision, all uses less CPU than just the 4 dahuas in SPSS, so I'm really rather not a fan of the software it seems...
:(

Anyway, thanks you two for the quick replies. Since y'all are watching the firmwares this closely, if you do ever see one upgrade that plugin install path, I sure would appreciate the heads up.

There is a new version out of Themis firmware by Dahua: DH_IPC-HX4X2X-Themis_Chn_PN_Stream3_V2.600.0000.00.R.20160825.bin
I sure hope they update Eos soon too D:
I'll try to patch that one soon.

And again, if anyone has a Dahua camera (or firmware) that has a language on it that is not chinese, english, french or spanish, please post here! (I'd be very happy if anyone has a german camera because my uncle sucks at english and wants me to translate the UI D: )

Hi guys!

New Dahua cameras (e.g. hfw8331) have fair bug: instead of true 1920x1080 image in 2mp mode this cam gives me scaled down and distorted 3mp image (both for main and third streams).

Is there any way to change this behavior or add custom resolution by rebuilding the firmware?

Thanks!

I can't even find firmware for that camera...

Well I can see one reason why that is happening...
1920 ∕ 1080
≈ 1.7777778
= 16 ∕ 9

2048 ∕ 1536
≈ 1.3333333
= 4 ∕ 3

The aspect ratio is wrong.
I'd suggest you to use the full 3MP resolution.
This can't be fixed in firmware unless you want to cut away a lot of the picture.
I could maybe introduce a custom resolution inbetween, like 1920x1440 or 1440x1080 but I don't see the point.

I need image with 16:9 aspect ratio (with any resolution), and cropping top and bottom of the picture is intended when camera switched 3mp->2mp mode.

Thanks.

I am not going to be able to change that, I can only do simple things with reverse engineering/patching.

Thanks!

Is it possible to add any custom resolution this way?

PS: I've already reported to Dahua this issue with 8331 and 81230 series, but with no response.

There is a config with the supported resolutions per model, I never tried adding custom ones - will try on mine later.

Yeah, I didn't have much luck with them either... (Heavily violating GPL in all of their products)

Okay, so these are all the supported resolutions in the Eos firmware:
Code:
D1
HD1
BCIF
CIF
QCIF
VGA
QVGA
SVCD
QQVGA
SVGA
XVGA
WXGA
SXGA
WSXGA
UXGA
WUXGA
ND1
720P
1080P
1_3M
2_5M
5M
3M
2432x2048
1216x1024
1408x1024
3296x2472
2560x1920
960H
DV720P
2560x1600
2336x1752
2592x2048
1920x1440
2448x2048
2752x2208
WVGA
3840x2160
4096x2160
3072x2048
2048x2048
I added some of them to my 4MP cam and it has always fit the entire picture into the video.
So for wrong aspect ratios it will not cut off but warp it to make it fit.
If you want to have any of these resolutions available in your FW I can add them, but I can't make it 16:9 without the camera warping it.

Thanks for the research!

Possibly I'll need extra resolutions on hfw81230, but not now.

Also hfw81230 warps only some resolutions (e.g. 12 mp is not warped 4:3, at 8mp is not warped 16:9, at 6mp is warped 4:3, at 3mp is not warped 16:9 etc )

Yeah you can flash that over my chinese one since the checks are disabled, not sure how big the differences are on themis between the english and chinese fw.
I actually already patched the chinese one but never bothered to release it... :p
If the czech ftp one works fine then whatever.
However I can upload the chinese modded one with eng, spa, fra, chn if you want to try that too (but no idea if it even works because, again, don't have a themis cam to test it xd)
