Aha, a little busy for preparing the middle year promotion. This model is under checking by
@Wildcat_1 , will have some important upgrade on the firmware next month, so we need to wait then to release the review. Make them perfect.
Can share a pic here for fun.

As
@EMPIRETECANDY stated, I have my hands on this new cam for review soon (thanks Andy !) and am currently putting it through initial testing. This particular unit includes pre-release FW, therefore lots of bugs to deal with. However I’m creating a list of these and feeding them back to Dahua while I await a full v1.0 FW to do full testing with in the coming weeks.
I did just want to say that as you know I don’t advocate for full color at night UNLESS you have a ton of light available to mitigate noise and slow shutter. This is even more important with 4K (remember, don't chase megapixels). I don’t believe in compromising image quality just to have color. Light will always be needed (regardless of cam) for any color at night. However, with the larger aperture afforded by the sensor / lens pairing of these full color cams it does potentially allow for a wider set of lighting scenarios. Therefore my testing with this cam so far has been focused on whether its possible to make the camera work in ‘regular’ light i.e. 1 x LED bulb then 2 bulbs then spotlights etc all initially without using the on-board illuminators (white light) and then subsequently with the illuminators by themselves. My goal being to get to an image I’m happy with (if possible) that could be useful for all of us here and allow for successful, smear free, motion blur-less caps both with and without built in illuminators (that sometime are not synced well to the sensor and add noise and/or color shift).
I’m also doing comparisons against other cams with the main being the 5442 that I know all are interested in understanding how this new 4K stacks up against. I will say that from my initial testing (and a quick comparison frame synced video I built) that this camera is not only performing well but is also well built (nice construction). I still need to tweak the image, test further and as mentioned there are a ton of bugs that currently would impact usability such as IVS being broken (although 1 cool aspect is a new IVS rule type), SD cards not reading etc BUT that is to be expected on a pre-release FW.
Just wanted to share some tidbits while I await the new FW drop and then will look to build out the full blown review.
Thanks
