Build an affordable P.A. system for my driveway?

Hi gents, Just checking in to say "hi" and use my login credentials. Great to see everybody is still active and hangin' in here. I've been MIA for a while since my system has been dialed and performing flawlessly for the most part. Alas, I've re-immersed myself into my vintage VW hobby and...

The OP went with outrageous sirens instead

    Vehicle identification needed from IPCamTalk

Either a Yukon or a Tahoe, they're virtually identical save for the nameplates and trim packages (GMC vs. Chevy). Zoom in on the red one, it clearly says YUKON on the door (albeit reversed).

    Vehicle identification needed from IPCamTalk

This is where LPR really shines: if you can get the general gist of the vehicle, then enter the plate at infotracer and confirm the make/color/year, and try to piece it all together. Stolen plate-swappers notwithstanding. This is how I confirmed my stalker. https://infotracer.com/plate-lookup/

My MP4 exports are ugly, they have a foggy haze.

Thank you for the comprehensive reply. I am so relieved to hear that I am not alone in my displeasure with this condition, and that it wasn't some obscure setting or parameter that I may have overlooked. When you say the contrast in the image on the left is too strong, I tend to agree, as the...

My MP4 exports are ugly, they have a foggy haze.

Okay, this really bothers me now. I touched on this previously in this thread: Convert/Export Encoder Profile Configuring but I thought it more pointed for the title to address it directly: Before, I thought it was just the size of the window I was viewing it in, or even worse, just my...

    Digital License Plates

I appreciate that. I wasn't really responding in a philosophical sense, but more in the context of the value of our LPRs, and how the plates we grab might be affected by those we're the most concerned with (those being perps).

    Digital License Plates

Thankfully, my suspicion is that most people who've GOT to have "the latest thing," and those who won't spend the extra dough and don't want to be tracked, aren't the same people* (the latter likely being crooks). *Has anybody noticed that, ever since Obama, the new word for "people" is now...

    What cha listening to?

I suspect this type of stuff is a generation behind a lot of you gents, but I'm an 'X'er (born in '65) and find this good lounge/ambient sound to get things done... Summa this too...

    What cha listening to?

I just noticed in another video that she has a left foot-pedal with some relay linkage so she can double-thrum on the bass with both feet. She's bad ass :headbang:

Build an affordable P.A. system for my driveway?

Also related: you'll recall I started this thread to ask about a PA so that I could scream at people. I went a different route, I just bought two of these bad-ass monster sirens and a 12V power supply Dual Tone Exterior Siren - ELK Products Now, if the driveway alarms wake me up, and I go to...

Build an affordable P.A. system for my driveway?

Great stuff, thanks for linking! And how timely: I just went to the PD this morning to ask them WTF is up with my report and why hasn't anyone gone to visit this prick yet? They said "Well, they'll get to it, it's just 'low' priority' and we only have a few detectives for this sort of...

    Bobcat fell into pool

I've seen what is probably the tiniest of Bobcats, wasn't more than about 36" wide, maybe 40 max. But I'm not sure if you can get the hydraulic breaker attachment for/on one of those baby units.

    Overlap

I'm afraid I'm in this camp too. I'm returning all my cams to the BI overlays. A couple months ago I tried to do "the right thing" and within a week or two I noticed a few of my cameras were a minute or more off, and all random differences. I'm too naive to set it up in any of the ways...

Is there a shroud or some other way to block light glare on dahua cam?

If and/after you address TonyR's bullet points, you may find the $0.99 piece of 12" roof flashing at the big-box stores to be quite handy. If you're crafty with tin snips, a hammer and a drill, you can cut/shape/roll and form the small, thin piece of sheet metal into myriad shapes to suit your...

Hi guys, my apologies for the laggy reply, it was a bit rude, but I wanted to dig into my system to investigate some of your questions and get to the bottom of some of it, and then time got away from me, so here goes.... @samplenhold, you said/asked: (in blue) Your log file has no entries...

Lessons: A video doorbell camera is not enough.. Do not open your door, Do have more cameras, Do re-enforce your door, Do have lethal force ..

Often times I'm working outside and these assholes will accost you in the front yard. Around here, it usually goes something like this: "Hi, we're in the neighborhood installing solar on your neighbor's house and wanted to know if you'd like to get in on the deals." Or, "Hi, we're in the...

Stockton, A.K.A. Stock Town, a rough, rough ass town in the San Joaquin Valley between San Francisco and Sacramento which, in most cases, you only choose to live if you have to. One of my co-workers lives there, hour-and-a-half commute each way, IF there's no traffic. He's a victim of being...

    Mini PC?

Ahhh, yes, thanks brah....I recall the thread quite well, I just didn't realize it was a mini PC, I do remember he insisted that his 2.5 should be fine. Anyway, yes, I have also been wondering what happened to his situation and was very curious. Thanks again for linking.

    Blue Iris problem

Fellow throat cancer survivor here, 5-1/2 years out. Mine was in the tonsils and spread to my lymph nodes on the left side of my neck. My pathology was P16 positive. I know all too well the loss of taste and permanent loss of salivary glands. Hang tough and keep your eye on that 5-year goal.

    First System Lockup Since Commissioned

Last night at 11:15, I decided to power up my monitor and verify my system is nominal before retiring for the night. To my surprise, the PC was fully locked, BI was frozen on daytime view at 4:50 PM. I couldn't even get the mouse pointer to move, couldn't get task manager up (CTRL + ALT +...

    Ok, lets talk PC-Based recording!

@The Automation Guy couldn't have put it any better or more convincingly for someone like me, who has never tried any other VMS, and wouldn't bat an eye at dropping a hundred bucks or more on software that performs like Blue Iris. 60 bucks for a copy of this is chump change, and I'm plenty...
