    HDCVI to IP?

Yes it's possible. It's not a coaxial to utp adapter that's needed though, you need an encoder. An HDCVI encoder specifically. There may be universal ones that work with HDCVI /TVI/ Regular analog. Not sure as I don't use them. Sent from my SM-G998W using Tapatalk

    Hikvision NVR password reset

Hey all, I got an NVR from a friend of mine, and they don't remember the password, and the NVR is not one that was sold thru Hikvision here in north america, so the password reset page from Hikvision is of no help to me. I'm wondering if anyone on here can help me out with it. Thanks, Kevin

    Camera installs and builds.

Here are some photos of those Non-penetrating roof mounts that I could have used the parapet mount for. I told the PM that the camera's wouldn't see over the edge like he wanted, I told him how to build a wood one that would work, and this is what I got... LOL I didn't care so I installed the...

    Camera installs and builds.

Not exactly an install but definitely fun to share. Rented a greenlee 555 bender to bend 1 length of 2" EMT for a custom camera pole... so we bent 5 of them. 3 identical ones, one small parapet style mount, and one large one. I would have had 2 large ones if I didn't kink the first bend I...

    Camera installs and builds.

Here's the last thing I did today before going home. I put together these power boxes for an install I'm doing next week. All they are is a 60 watt 12v DC power supply inside an enclosure to power a Ubiquiti radio and a PTZ camera. I had the option of using PoE injectors to do this, but I'd have...

    Camera installs and builds.

This was my morning job, relocate this camera I installed back in August or July or something. These cameras were pretty much already built but they got some extra goodies and reworked and tested before being installed again. Basically the same as the canal cameras, except we were planning on...

    Camera installs and builds.

Here's some more photos of the Canal Cameras. I have the enclosures with the camera mounted to 2" EMT using our time lapse camera Pole mount bracket and I fastened it to the pole with my stainless steel banding tool.

    Camera installs and builds.

Correct they do not include the box. You want more info on the fiberglass enclosure the camera is installed on? Sure. They're made by Allied Molded. I don't think they're called fiberglass on their site. I think they're resold by Hammond manufacturing too. They're not cheap tho. The box this...

    Camera installs and builds.

Nope. The camera goes directly into the cellular router/modem. There's a VPN tunnel or something on the cell modem. That stuff is above my pay grade tho. No, it's a DS-2DE3A400BW-DE. It comes with the wall mount. It's a little crappy tho as the wiring is only just long enough to get to the box...

Howdy everyone. I work for a company that does lots of construction site CCTV and commercial grow op facilities. In this thread I will be posting photos that I am permitted to that will not break the terms and conditions of my non-disclosure agreement. Attached is an image of 1 of the 3...

    New installation

I'd say thru the concrete is the best way right now. After the pour is done I'd vacuum a string in to ensure the conduit is still usable (sometimes Conduit gets crushed or pulled apart during pours). Option 2 and 3 are good for things that got forgotten or damaged and needs another or new lines run.

Best way to join 2 Cat6 cables

Those big black things you see are poly pipe (AKA water pipe) that the former IT guy used for running all the network cables... Suprise Suprise some of the runs don't work and had to have radios installed to make the connection work... I told them next time something fails, dig a trench around...

Best way to join 2 Cat6 cables

Man, it sounds like the guy that did that started at your facility, learned from his mistakes with the grease, and moved to this one! The former IT guy had to have all top of the line stuff (Axis cameras, fluke equipment, etc) but cheaped out on the actual install and didn't even know how to...

Best way to join 2 Cat6 cables

Mine won't. Although if they're inside a junction box you can get away without using anything but the coupler portion. Don't use an indoor coupler outdoors, they corrode and break down. I had to replace an indoor one in a junction box with an outdoor one (I just removed the junction box)... not...

Best way to join 2 Cat6 cables

I use these... I flood them with dielectric grease. They also use split glands so they can be used on cables that are pre- terminated. I buy them wholesale but here's a link for the retail site...

Anyone install their PoE switch outdoors?

I just have a few things to add. There are a lot of good points here. I install Trendnet PoE switches inside fiberglass enclosures all the time. Some are vented and some are not. I use fiberglass 4X rated enclosures for all the installs I do. Never had a switch fail yet. For your install I'd...

    Do these siding clips work?

I believe they're using gravity to hold them on. I don't believe the screw will actually go in far enough to push them out.

    Do these siding clips work?

I keep seeing them pop up. I've heard they work, and I've read some reviews, but if someone here has used them and gives feedback that's 100% better than anything else online.

New to LPR? Considerations Before You Begin

I know 45° is a little sharp but its my only option (downside of not owning the property...). Vehicle speed physically can't be faster than 30km/h that would be top speed. Average is probably 10-20km/h . Any faster and they won't be able to stop in time to exit the parking lot. Glad to hear I...

New to LPR? Considerations Before You Begin

I know a LPR camera is best for this, but would a regular 3MP camera with the shutter speed set to something like 1/2000 or faster get any results? Mounting location is going to be max 10' from the plates, at the same elevation as the plates, But at approximately 45° off to the side.

    Remote PTZ camera

I know line of sight is better for the wireless link, but I'm gonna throw in my 2 cents... I just installed a pair of ubiquiti nanobeam 5AC gen2 radios the other day at a construction site. The radios had enough power to go through about 60' of wood and metal building, total link length was...

POE security setup and cut cat6 cables

Depending on the stage the house is at, they might be able to put an NVR in and put a few cameras up. Problem is, once a house is hit once, they know it will be watched much more carefully, so it's less likely to be hit again (although still possible, depends how dumb they are...).

    Long-distance camera limitation questions

You're absolutely correct in that I screwed up my math for that. It should be #6awg copper for 15 amps 120vac at 300 feet for 3.64% voltage drop. I just knew something was off with that number... it wasn't right... I was very hesitant to make that post with those numbers, and as it turns out...

    Long-distance camera limitation questions

I'm an electrician by trade (born and raised into it) but would definitely follow this advice. Permits are mandatory where I am , and underground work requires a trench inspection in addition to other inspections which can complicate things for someone unfamiliar with these processes.

    Long-distance camera limitation questions

The camera should only draw several watts. A media converter (such as fiber to copper) will also only draw several watts. It should only be 2-3 amps max for the camera and converter. As for running power 300', I'd definitely size if for a 15 amp load (you may never actually load it to 15 amps...

    Long-distance camera limitation questions

This is 100% true, 4 amps @ 240 volt is well over what may ever be used out there, but I like allowing for future additions of some sort. There's no sense in running 120 volts out there to only support a 50 watt load. If he ever tries to run anything else at that end and voltage drop isn't...
