    DO NOT UPDATE DS-2DE4A425IW-DE

I wonder if firmware is the same for DS-2DE4A425IWG-E and DS-2DE4A425IW-DE. Edit: Nope doesn't update IW-DE

BlueIris is amazing! Why bother with NVR today?

Apparently you haven't even tried it... It's an app basically. You only need to launch it once in a mobile browser, add an icon from chrome browser and that's it. It becomes just like any other "app". Can't even tell you are launching a mobile view as there is no bar and it's amazing...

    Review-SD4A425DB-HNY 1/2.8" CMOS 4MP 25x Starlight Auto-tracking MiniPTZ

I have Hikvision one as well which is same cam with their "Smart tracking" feature, it can track everything, including shadows and tree movement. Highly annoying.

BlueIris is amazing! Why bother with NVR today?

Nothing major really in comparison how limited is NVR. Also, personally I don't use mobile app as mobile view in browser is superior to anything I have seen and you can easily download recorded clip. And for alerts I use telegram notifications.

    Review-SD4A425DB-HNY 1/2.8" CMOS 4MP 25x Starlight Auto-tracking MiniPTZ

Ah, it was compression H.265 that causes lag in ptz, I changed it back to H.264H and it's much better, still very slight delay, but not 2-3 seconds delay with H.265

    Review-SD4A425DB-HNY 1/2.8" CMOS 4MP 25x Starlight Auto-tracking MiniPTZ

Yeah, high is too fast and medium is a bit slow, still tweaking settings, but they were mostly default and the 2-3 second delay when I click any ptz buttons. I have also updated to last firmware posted here and reset camera afterwards.

    Review-SD4A425DB-HNY 1/2.8" CMOS 4MP 25x Starlight Auto-tracking MiniPTZ

One other issue with ptz delay in the camera interface (non BI related). Installed plugin and stream itself is good but controls and specifically PTZ function is laggy. For example I would press pan to the left button and it takes 2-3 seconds before it starts moving. It uses same POE+...

I meant to say hack it... Anyway going to order this one. Hikvision one been my favorite cam for past couple years just wish auto tracking only worked on people.

    Review-SD4A425DB-HNY 1/2.8" CMOS 4MP 25x Starlight Auto-tracking MiniPTZ

Can you update this cam with Dahua firmware? Other question: can you update the identical Hikvision cam (DS-2DE4A425IW-DE) with this firmware?

BlueIris is amazing! Why bother with NVR today?

That doesn't matter what the price is as software is the same for most part with extra features added if as you pay more. The problem for me wasn't hardware, it's the software which I see now lacks quite a bit in comparison to what you get with BI for under $100.

BlueIris is amazing! Why bother with NVR today?

I know there are lots of NVRs but when most my cams are Hik why would I buy mismatched NVR? It was already difficult to configure motion with Dahua or non branded cams. Anyway, I got quickly spoiled with BI experience so NVRs are dead to me...

BlueIris is amazing! Why bother with NVR today?

It's not difficult... But It's not great experience with Hik NVR web interface, especially if I compare to how I can do this with BI now. Loving it!

BlueIris is amazing! Why bother with NVR today?

I thought Hikvision/Dahua was as good as it gets. What's good NVR? Hikvision didn't work nicely with non Hikvision cams and even one Hikvision one I had didn't work good but with BI you can throw any cam.

BlueIris is amazing! Why bother with NVR today?

That was my rookie thought when I got so called "all-in-one solution" but as my experience grew I realized that it's a terrible solution. I ditched built-in Poes the first year.

BlueIris is amazing! Why bother with NVR today?

I think if you count number of clicks required to set everything up for NVR vs PC with Blue Iris then NVR will win this one challenge. I found Hikvision NVR software is terrible if you want to use it for motion alerts, for 24x7 recording it's fine, but then reviewing all that recorded...

BlueIris is amazing! Why bother with NVR today?

If you venture yourself into NVR configurations for the first time you will be overwhelmed too and I've been constantly fine tuning it as well and never was satisfied with the results really. I wouldn't say it's an exciting game for me, maybe years back, now I just want to set it and forget it...

BlueIris is amazing! Why bother with NVR today?

Didn't expect my post would switch to hardware discussion, I was just praising BI software really but you won't be gaining anything with mini PC besides space. Personally I was looking to spend ~$600 on a updated 7616nix-i2/16p but decided to try BI + mini PC combo and was blown away. I already...

BlueIris is amazing! Why bother with NVR today?

I would rather have it separate anyway. NVR had 16 POE but I didn't use them they weren't plus and had some bandwidth/power constraints. Also one poe stopped working so you would have to replace entire thing.

BlueIris is amazing! Why bother with NVR today?

Agree, you can certainly spend much less and get some good old midsize tower and stuff it with plenty of cheap 3.5 drives. I wanted more space saving solution though and I came from using 8TB of storage for full recording to 1TB motion primarily. Didn't think 1TB would be plenty but so far so...

BlueIris is amazing! Why bother with NVR today?

CPU i9-12900H Storage is 1x 1TB m.2 ssd that comes with and I can add 2x SSD 2.5. 4TB SSD is a bit expensive at about $200 but maybe some day I will add it if need arises. Based on my experience 1TB is plenty for motion recording

BlueIris is amazing! Why bother with NVR today?

I bought it to try it. There are plenty of options with mini PCs and you can add enough of storage as well. It has i9 cpu + 32 gb ram. Blue Iris runs excellent with AI for all cams. CPU usage is under 5%.

BlueIris is amazing! Why bother with NVR today?

Minisforum Nad9, I have 10 cams mostly 4k Hikvision & Dahua. With NVR I had 8 TB of space because motion recording wasn't great so I used continuous recording but with BI setup I found 1 TB is enough because all my cams are recording on motion and just 2 uses motion+continuous.

BlueIris is amazing! Why bother with NVR today?

I have been a hardcore user of the Hikvision NVR (7616ni-i2/16p model) for 7 years, and while it wasn't perfect, I stuck with it. Also around same time I had tried BI, but I wasn't impressed with the solution at that time for several reasons. Recently I finally reached a point where I grew...
