computer updates are not the same as Hikvision nvr camera updates, unless you are 1000% sure you need an update DO NOT UPDATE as everyone has already said... do it at your own peril, chances of something going wrong or becoming worse 98% -

the updates were fine, it was the local nas drive that scrambled the password to the camera .... or more accurately, i simply forgot it... it happens ! but i am glad i stopped at 5.3.8 :) -

Thank you Alastair, the camera had its 5.3.8 firmware reapplied using the method you linked to, all went well using windows 10, using your method reset the camera to default settings for the applied firmware, using sadp a new password was applied, access is now granted again thank you -

Thank you alastair question time though reading the instructions does not mention whether the camera should be directly connected to the laptop in which case it will need a power source ( no problem with power source ) or connect laptop to spare poe port leaving cam also connected to poe port... -

agreed, i dont, i am terrible with this stuff tbh, non the less using an old Linksys router power adapter i finally have it working, the adapter will now become my kept in a place easy to find in case its needed adapter Think i will reset the cam back to factory settings and then re install it... -

Guys i foobard a damn dome 2cd2342, i dont have an nvr here or an injector but i do have various 12v power supplys that might do the trick to power it so i can reset the thing could one of you kindly give me the power specs so i dont blow the cam cheers -

I actually didnt have any real issues with 533 Q, however i am always interested in bettering the image at night, for my circumstance on this cam there was nothing more that could have been done apart from adding more light which was not an option, so it is worth the effort of a few upgrade... -

Remote Controls
i have a 7604NI-E1 that is remote controlled using the Hik remote control, it works fine but in all honesty the Hik NVR software is absolutely rubbish and is not designed for remote control use, in my opinion the Hik software is about as good as an early VCR / Betamax player and it is no where...- hiky

Nefarious NoGoodNiks or Gotta Catch Em All?
i use a Mobius in the car.. you cant get much more Chinese and it is awsome, been using it over a year now with no issues I did wonder about the excellent image, very good IR spread- hiky
