I couldn't find anymore reporting success or failure on a v1 in this thread. so...
Just updated from DH_NVR5XXX-4KS2_MultiLang_V4.001.0000003.1.R.200813 to DH_NVR5XXX-4KS2_MultiLang_V4.001.0000006.0.R.210208 successfully..
Mine is an older DHI-NVR5232-4KS2 - The original firmware when I purchased this was V3.216 (2018).

@EMPIRETECANDY I purchased this from you July 2020 but shows a 2019 build. Do I need a different 2020 FW first; if yes could you please send to me.

I always export configuration before any upgrade. However, I've never had an upgrade require me to factory reset or import the export afterwards on any of my Dahua gear (NVR or Cams). Settings have always stayed.
Just upgraded to DH_NVR5XXX-4KS2_MultiLang_V4.001.0000007.1.R.210827 from DH_NVR5XXX-4KS2_MultiLang_V4.001.0000006.0.R.210208 now to.

For firmware updating, No need to do factory reset, just a normal default is fine. Not sure who said always have to do hard reset

Am I doing something wrong, I have never performed a reset of any kind after FW update seems to take care of whatever it needs, but I do the upgrade via flash drive memory stick @ the NVR. PS when I update camera's via same method I never do reset, camera must do it automatically and all settings return to as before the update.

Make a default mainly for clearing the last fw's history, make the device with all full latest new.
Normal default can keep all the setting you did, factory default will clear all, and set up the system again as new one, will waste of time.

Try to reboot them by removing power and/or try to reboot the NVR again.
If that does not work, what is the error message that shows up on the camera view?

Fixed!! Rebooted the NVR a few times while disconnecting the cameras. Fingers crossed that the only hiccup I run across.

Unless you have a problem with the NVR you are trying to solve, don't be in a rush to update firmware.
If it's not broke, don't fix it.
Sometimes updating firmware cause's new issues or in some case's bricks the NVR.

Always best to get any firmware updates from the vendor you purchased the NVR from.
