    WD ReadyView Cameras / NVR

I wish there was more reviews of these WD NVR bundles... especially regarding the firmware they use. I might bite in a few weeks to get my dad a simple PoE system. We'll see...

A lot of condensation on Laview LV-PB3040W bullet cam

Yeah the camera seemed 100% well put together, and the screws seemed quite tight when I opened the whole housing up. So it beats me... There was a single desiccant pack in there, clear plastic baggie with yellow/orange granules... and speaking of which, does one have to replace those desiccant...

A lot of condensation on Laview LV-PB3040W bullet cam

So recently after a couple rainy fall days I saw some excessive moisture/condensation in my LV-PB3040W (2MP) cam. If I understand correctly, these are rebranded hikvisions, though I'm not sure which hikvision model exactly. I had noticed some ("normal") temporary condensation before, during...

    Tinycam and Laview (hikvision) NVR

So I managed to sorta connect with the android Tinycam app thru my (LV-N9808C8E) NVR to my IP cams by using the ports that the NVR exposes. Granted I'm just using the "Snapshot" protocol, but it's a start... haven't had time to tinker to a deeper extend. For example, my NVR is at 192.168.2.2...

IP Surveillance Software with decent people recognition

Rats crawling up and down walls aren't unheard of in warehouses... they are pretty damn capable...lol funny you should mention a costume... I figure it'd try a youtube search for the episode and found it! And they did try a chicken-like costume to try to fool the sensor! But it seems that...

IP Surveillance Software with decent people recognition

I don't have a lot of experience with PIRs used conjunction with camera systems... but I'm curious how easy something other than "people" still trigger even a well mounted PIR? Like a large rat or insect radiating enough IR or close enough to the sensor? This question also makes me remember a...

IP Surveillance Software with decent people recognition

If what you mean by "people recognition" is facial recognition or anything further than just basic motion/object detection, then you're gonna be paying a lot of money... and I mean a lot, unless you have the computer science skills to create a machine learning openCV system that can learn to...

Cat6 - Here is why not - Change my mind

I went with Cat 6 for my DIY install, price difference between Cat5e was neglible and I actually kinda learned to like the annoying little plastic separator thing that gives Cat6 more rigidity and reduces signal crosstalk. I have a cable run that I had to pull up 3 stories (+2 fire blocks) from...

What are these cable/RJ45 cover things called and where can I buy more?

Huh... interesting, I never would have thought of using that duct seal stuff for this application... cool, thanks!

What are these cable/RJ45 cover things called and where can I buy more?

I do have a drip loop, but the cable gland is still kinda ends up in a vertical position, so I'm still not sure what the best practice is on their positioning.

What are these cable/RJ45 cover things called and where can I buy more?

Anyone know if these cable glands can be placed in any direction, (i.e vertical vs horizontal)? I've got one vertically coming down a corner of my house and I'm afraid eventually it'll get water inside thru the compression ring and corrode the cameras pigtail. I guess I'll apply some...

Cable condoms to prevent/catch unwanted... data packets? lol

What are these cable/RJ45 cover things called and where can I buy more?

Finally! Thanks guys... Wow ok, so further google-fu based on your links points to "cable glands" as the technical name(?) yeah... I would have NEVER guessed that lol "glands" produce hormones/secretions... not keep water out, that's what seals and gaskets do! :) Learn something new everyday I...

What are these cable/RJ45 cover things called and where can I buy more?

Hi guys, Hoping you guys can help me find some answers. I've searched quite a few websites but still can't find a definitive answer. My LaView cameras came with these sort of ethernet cable connector cover... thing. I am not actually 100% sure what they are called... which is why I can't seem...

Any LaView NVR compatible PoE IP cams, with audio+mic? (i.e "2-way" audio)

Yep. Getting wire anywhere near enough to my door, due to all the framing would have been hell, I definitely thought about that... I already worked like crazy and was able to get a cat 6 wire down 2 stories from my attic, past a fireblock, to a space between studs right behind the porch lights...

Any LaView NVR compatible PoE IP cams, with audio+mic? (i.e "2-way" audio)

Ah yea, I was wondering about this as well... given that pretty much all consumer wifi cameras have mics/audio recording capabilities. I used to have a indoor rated wifi camera (foscam) on my covered porch, and I kinda miss being able to give the impression to solicitors (or would be burglars)...

Any LaView NVR compatible PoE IP cams, with audio+mic? (i.e "2-way" audio)

Sounds like a CB radio? Hmm That's a plus in my book! ;) jk Thanks, yeah... I see now what you guys are trying to say... doing a bit more research it looks like very few PoE IP cams have 2-way audio, lots of wifi cameras do apparently... I'm curious though...so even with something like that...

Any LaView NVR compatible PoE IP cams, with audio+mic? (i.e "2-way" audio)

Hi guys, I went thru the LaView website and I can't seem to find any decently priced cameras (budget is ~$250) there to be able to have a PoE powered IP cam on my porch that can also act as a "door cam" / video doorbell (ala... Ring/Nest/Blink etc... where the device notifies you someone is at...

Where do you generally purchase your cameras? (USA)

Greetings fellow Atlantan! Curious what your reasoning is for not wanting an NVR... or do you mean you already have one? I've been playing around with a really cheap a raspberry pi 3 loaded with motionEyeOS as an "NVR" - you kinda have to play around with the settings a bit, but it's super...

You're probably right to say avoid china region ones... But can you get international ones at a good price? I got this baby for 80 bucks!?

    Dahua HDBW4431R-ZS cannot connect...

What? You mean to say that Cor35vet wrote custom firmware for your Dahua camera? Anyhow, was finally able to get it working. Danke! The camera wasn't bootlooping, it was booting but something was messing up it's networking or causing it to freeze. So I did what you suggested and held the reset...

    Dahua HDBW4431R-ZS cannot connect...

Yeah a badly patched might be the case... I'll plug in the camera and watch it carefully to see if the IR comes on and off multiple times, it didn't *look* like a bootloop to me on first glance, but that could be the case. It is easy to reflash these? How would I do it given that I can't even...

Need advice on front door placement of IPC-HDW5231R-Z

I'd get two cameras, one with a wider-lens to put near the door looking out, another behind one of the those columns to see who's on your porch. If you can only do one, do the former...

    Dahua HDBW4431R-ZS cannot connect...

Hi guys, I'm hoping maybe yous can help me... So this weekend I took my first plunge into the world of PoE ip cams. I bought some cat 6 cable and almost broke my back pulling it from my basement all the way to my attic where I'll be putting a PoE switch and hopefully a few high-quality IP cams...
