Identical cameras time will not stay in sync

I have two IPC-T54IR-ZE running on a Blue Iris pc. My camera network is on a separate VLAN with no outside access to the internet. Each camera displays the date and time in the same format. With no internet clock for them to connect to I have them set to sync with the PC time. However, after...

Confused on main/sub streams and CPU use

Thank you. I am familiar with the idea of only recording the sub stream until a trigger but with only two cameras have the space to just continuously record. I did not take into account that sub streams were valuable if I was not using them for this purpose.

What Blue Iris network stream profiles for EmpireTech 5442T-ZE?

So I've got the cameras working fine, but should I be more detailed in the stream profiles in Blue Iris for EmpireTech 5442T-ZE cameras? Right now I have the following: Make: Dahua Model: *Main Stream RTSP Main:(default) Sub:(default) Media/video/RTSP port: 554 Discovery/ONVIF port 8999...

Confused on main/sub streams and CPU use

So I'm better off using sub streams, correct? And BI will only record the Main Stream which is full quality. Thanks for the quick reply!

Confused on main/sub streams and CPU use

I have a W10 i5-6500 box running BI5. It's been rock solid for a year and I'm just now finding time to tweak settings and get things lined out. Cameras are two EmpireTech 5442T-ZE. I am recording continuously for both cameras. So far so good. I was digging through the menus and changed some...

    5442 Turrets in black

Ok I though maybe I just couldn't find black turrets. It is kind of strange they make the black in the varifocal only. For $30 it's worth not painting them. The factory finish seemed quite good on the one I already have. The brightness of a fixed lens would be nice but in the locations I...

    5442 Turrets in black

I have a black 5442T-ZE I got from Empiretech last year as my first camera. After trying out the zoom I now have a good idea of what lenses I need to finish my setup. The house has black siding and the black turret disappears into the exterior. Are fixed lens versions available in black? Or...

    POE camera for mailbox recommendation

I live out of town and have built a brick mailbox with a 1" conduit back to the house. About 250' total from switch to camera. Mailbox is at the end of a road in cul de sac only serving 4 houses. So not a lot of daily traffic. The goal is a camera that has quality image capture with the...

New build rack setup: Run two switches?

With this being a new build I was able to wire for just about everything I could think of. And my switch sizes are allowing about 20% for future expansion. But definitely good advice!

New build rack setup: Run two switches?

I have a new house prewired for a rack setup. Let me describe my plan and tell me if this will work or if their is a better way. All ethernet & cameras wire to rack. I estimate 24 ports necessary for current a future general networking (modem, access points, tv's, pc's, etc.) and 12+ for...

Help with viewing on multiple TVs

I am gathering pieces for a new Blue Iris install at the office. I would like to set up viewing on two different TVs (lobby & back office) with the traditional grid layout of cameras. This is twofold, to prove to clients in an out the door that we have cameras, and also to allow the back...

New Home Wiring: Cat6 or Cat5 premade cables

Thanks everyone for the replies. I ended up ordering bulk cable. What sold us were the newer pass through ends. So I also got a new crimper and ends. We also decided the Cat6/Cat5 split would be more headache than anything. We really need over 1000' of 6 and less for 5 so we just ordered it...

New Home Wiring: Cat6 or Cat5 premade cables

I'm fixing to help a friend wire his new home build. He has a combination of ~20 locations to wire. Roughly 10 are pc/tv/wireless AP drops and the other 10 are for IP cameras. I've had good luck with buying premade cables on Amazon in standard 25/50/75/100ft lengths and this is our plan. Are...

POE Switch - Which of these is best for my setup?

Don't take this the wrong way, but I know where I'm heading with the 8 port switch. I'm looking for specific feedback on that. Given my residence size, budget, and most importantly by surveillance plan an 8 port switch. And given their low cost, I'd rather save the money today and eat $100...

POE Switch - Which of these is best for my setup?

I am putting together a 5 camera system at home. Current network is a pfSense firewal > 8 port VLAN capable switch > wifi AP for wireless I plan to use an HP Elitedesk with Blue Iris and am looking to get an 8 port POE switch. I will run a cable from my current VLAN switch to the new POE...

Looking for wireless indoor camera for baby monitor

I am looking for a wireless ip camera to use as a baby monitor. We did this many years ago using an app on our phones and I am hoping things are more improved this time around. I have a couple of details. 1. Strongly, strongly prefer a local LAN only model. I do NOT need it to phone out to...
