What current IP cameras have changeable (e.g. Set screw, not epoxy mounted) Lenses

Cameras I've bought recently all had lenses secured with epoxy. The standard 2.8 and 3.6 lenses show everything, but see nothing. Yes, there are inexpensive zoon and varifocal lenses, but they don't seem to provide the range they claim. Probably because focusing changes the effective focal...

ODM displays video, Blue Iris does not

Sorry I took so long. Cameras were miles away. Brought one home and set up temp on my local BI Your info fixed the T1179 problem with BI-4, after I figured out exactly which fields a couple of things were for. :-( My T1179's came with the 108 address, not DHCP I didn't even have to fill in...

ODM displays video, Blue Iris does not

It's only the VIEW LIVE that isn't displaying - the rest seems to work OK. ODM brings up a camera log in screen and then provides full? access to the camera settings, etc. This is after the AMCREST IP CONFIG tools was used to set the IP address.

ODM displays video, Blue Iris does not

Sorry to take so long to respond. First, Thanks for the fast response from BP2008 and SpacemanSpiff to my request for help. That’s the sort of thing that makes IPCAMTALK so great. (I do use it to find other “solutions,” too) Turned out that I had somehow messed up. This was a total reinstall...

ODM displays video, Blue Iris does not

I have two networks on one computer. One NIC (192.168.9.100) connects to the world, the other (192.168.0.1), only to the cameras. ODM (ONVIF Device Manager), gets video from all of the cameras. Blue Iris, doesn't display any live video. Any suggestions on where to start?

    Max height for facial recognition.

In my opinion, 8 ft won't work if the camera is two feet away. I think what you really want to have is a low angle - best recognition would be at head height or slightly below to see under the bill of a hat or cap. The farther away the camera is, the higher it can be. Of course you might need...

    Running ethernet cable outside

Use outdoor cable IF you will run the cable above ground - It is rated for minimum UV degradation. However, if you are going to bury it, use IN GROUND DIRECT BURIAL cable that has a gel fill. I don't know how it will last, but if the underground run is less than 100 ft, I use garden hose with...

BI not controlling PTZ on Safevant S5-H130L IPHD camera

thanks for the quick help. I should have figured it was something stupid on my part. I looked for Safevant in the PTZ dropdown ( after mistakenly looking for SaVevant in the camera dropdown) instead of in the camera dropdown. PTZ is now working. Didn't need the update, but downloaded it...

BI not controlling PTZ on Safevant S5-H130L IPHD camera

BI 4 (Release 4.6.9.4 x64) isn't controlling PTZ on Safevant S5-H130L IPHD camera. However, ODM controls it as does the camera's web interface when PTZ Protocol is set to PELCOD at 2400 baud RS-232. The camera has no RS-232 or RS485, only wired ethernet. ODM PROFILES (000 and 001 - but not...

Record at higher quality when alerted

Jim. Here are some thoughts on your 4 questions. (Days late and $$ short) Question 1. BI allows a camera to be "added" multiple times. Many IP cameras have TWO video streams. Configure one to provide the frame rate and resolution for continuous record and the other to the frame rate and...

    Lens selection tool

To get the most usable video images from your security camera, it is often necessary to replace the supplied lens with one providing more magnification. There are ways to measure and then calculate what lens you need, but the attached charts will allow you to use a simpler method. You merely...

Yesterday, BI as a SERVICE lost all Network Video and Web Server

Thanks for the quick fix. oops! I guess I must have enabled the HW acceleration - all my IP cameras were set to DEFAULT and when I changed it to NO, Video returned and the Web Server started working. I'm running BI 4 - updated by download yesterday after I noticed the "problem." I've been...

Yesterday, BI as a SERVICE lost all Network Video and Web Server

BI has been running as a service just fine on my Win7 64-bit PRO for months, but yesterday the user interface stopped displaying video from ALL the IP cameras (Various Brands) and the Web Server stopped working. USB cameras continued to display. Stopping the BI AS A SERVICE and running BI as...
