You can buy a device that can detect hidden cameras and wireless listening/transmitting audio. They are okay, but not as good the high-end professional models.

How about cat6a? An overkill?

perhaps Netgear 8000, 8500, or 9000, and upgrade the firmware to DD-WRT.

Agree with pretty much everyone's comments, and I would add few more... start slow, no need to go all out and buy all the cameras. Get Dahua or Hikvision cameras. Then match it with an NVR. At somepoint in the future you may decide to switch to BL.

For that location, it is a Hikvision OEM camera. looking for 5" diameter base (actual camera base is 4.75"), I only need to extend 1-2". wittaj gave me a couple of good ideas to try and investigate. Thank you both. I'll report back on which method I end up with.
