Occassional spike in CPU causing PC to crash- time for an upgrade?

So a little more update... I discovered that Windows Defender was eating up 30-40% and jumping up to 60% of my CPU (sometime) and this is when my PC crash. Went into local group policy and limited it to 3 or 5% can't remeber the exact # and also went through all my services that would start...

Occassional spike in CPU causing PC to crash- time for an upgrade?

I spent a little bit of time trying to find substreams for all of the cameras. I think I got them all but the one intercom. I'm averaging 20% CPU usage at the moment

Occassional spike in CPU causing PC to crash- time for an upgrade?

A little progress... I went through the optimization line by line again for each camera. Turned on HW accellaration and saved about 10-15% CPU However, one interesting thing I noticed, I know I checked "limit decoding unless required" for all cameras and they are all unchecked now. I checked...

Occassional spike in CPU causing PC to crash- time for an upgrade?

I've gone through all the optimization. Generally, my CPU is anywhere between 20-35% usage. I run CP AI in a docker container and see that my VMmem spikes up which competes for resources with BI and anytime it hits 95% and above my system hangs up and requires a hard reboot. I have a GTX1650...

Best way to capture all unknown faces?

I want to capture all faces that enters the property. I use CP and have it set to trigger "unknown" but it's not capturing anything. I don't need it to identify the person, just wanted away to do head counts if different people. Is there a way to capture faces of everyone that come and go and...

push notification not showing image of motion

This is through the BI app. I don't ever recall GIF works home or away. The system in question is at my other home and will not be back there for some months. I read you need to port foward the webserver port for gif to work which I've always had it open since the beginning of days.

push notification not showing image of motion

My push notification works fine, I get an image but 9/10 times the image doesn't contain the actual picture of the person I have to enter the app and look at the alerts. I think this could be due to a delay in the image capture. Is there a setting somewhere to fix this? BTW: I just discovered...

    dealing static object

My front cameras are being triggered by parked cars. I've uncheck static object analasis but it's still being triggered. However I still want it to trigger if a call do drive up to the driveway. I see that there's a configurable area that is not yet ready. How can we deal with situations like...

New not getting moved to stored

For what I paid for a 2TB SSD, should I buy an 8TB HDD if that's going to solve my problem. I'm going to be away for 3-4 months at a time and just need a solid way to keep recording.

New not getting moved to stored

I have 447GB of space and is only allocating 400GB. When defender is disabled.

New not getting moved to stored

If I put New on the 6TB reviewing recording and alerts is extremely slow. I made a post of this awhile ago and was recommended to put it on an SSD>

New not getting moved to stored

I actually have 450gb free space the SSD to start, BI is all it's used for. the DB is on the OS drive that is also SSD. When things hang up, I'm only at 398gb of used space. According to the recommendation I've changed everything as it should.

New not getting moved to stored

I have a 450SSD limit is 400gb that new and alerts (database only) limite is 1gb is created. Then it is supposed to be moved to a 6TB HDD. However, it is not doing this and eventually the SSD gets filed up and some camera simply stop trigger alerts. I'm not sure it's related but if I either...

    some camera stop creating alerts

Seems like everyday for the past couple week, I have to delete and regen my database for half of my camera to start creating alerts again. All the cameras in questions are continuous+trigger, very similar settings with AI via CodeProject AI, schedules are identical. When I test/tune it with AI...

    Slow DB access message.

I did take the latest update but it's not on auto. I think this is a great feature. I guess I'll ignore it as long as I don't have a problem. Thank you

    Slow DB access message.

I never noticed this until recent. On the DB status window I get a message of "Slow DB access" How is this being tested and what's the best way to improve it? my DB is on an SSD already but my files are scattered across HDD and a NAS for long term storage.

what's the purpose of limit size?

I only have a 500gb SSD for new, after that it moves to a 6tb HDD. I only have 4 cameras that are continueous the rest are on motion. I'll up it to 400 and not set the limit clip age and see what happens

what's the purpose of limit size?

In my "new" folder, I have limit size to 300 or 3 days then move to store. Problem is it reaches 400gb but not quite 3 days but it still doesn't move to store.

    Blue Iris Crashing on Startup

Alrite disabled that... also seems that by disabling hardware accellaration, it dropped CPU usage by about 10-15%. So far so good.

I think I see what this means now... is there a good rule of thumb for a break time? perhaps a minute or two? btw: good news, it was a bad DB, system all good now

It's an i7 6700 might be 7th or 8th gen? The 6tb is a Seagate enterprise 7200 RPM drive. I know people scream about purple etc.. but I've never had issues even with random drives in the past.

    Blue Iris Crashing on Startup

When I had NEW on the HDD, I find that it's very slow at responding during playback. There are 3 cameras in the front of the house that are on constant recording the rest are on motion. I'm moving out of this house and making it a short term rental so I'd like to have a fallback to review the...
