    Dahua 8MP IPC-HFW1831E vs 8MP IPC-T2385G-I (OEM HK Darkfighter)

Finally, a 8MP in Turret form that is 1/2" . Still not the 1/1.8" but getting closer.

1/2.5" or 1/2" Progressive Scan CMOS

Neither. 1/1.8" is the best right now, best bang for buck.

Demo: Alexa-enabled my Dahua NVR 54xx to control display

It's not quick to explain and describe in an hour... there's a lot of work involved... mostly on the client side. A couple of things are a bit "hacky" and it's not something I would feel comfortable in distributing. If there is high interest in this, I will consider developing a more proper...

Trying to get OpenVpn to work Using Asus RT-N66U Router with Netgear MR1100 Hotspot

Ditch the Asus router's VPN and just buy a $30 raspberry pi and run Open VPN on that. Problem solved. That's what I've been doing for over a year now. Or you can buy a Edgerouter ERX.

I was right all along, Dahua IPC-HDW4831EM-ASE - Don't follow the 4K Hype

I have one 4831em-ase and bought like fifteen hfw-1831e bullet cam 4k. hands down the 1831e sensor is miles ahead of the 4831em. I wouldn’t buy another 4831 again unless i have to have a turret. The 1/8” sensor on the 1831 makes a world of difference in picture quality.Versus the 1/2.5 4831...

Can NVR NVR4108-8P-4KS2 connect to a tablet or similar?

No. USB. Behind the tablet is a 1-gang box and USB outlet: Leviton 4.2 Amp Decora 4-Port USB Charger Combo Outlet, White-R02-USB4P-0BW - The Home Depot The outlet can supply up to 4.2Amps. That's more than enough power for like 3 iPads.

    BV-Tech PoE switch OK?

I have multiple BV-tech switches bought from Amazon. All are working perfectly fine for years. One of the BV-tech 10-port switch lives outdoors in a weatherproof box. Two 8 port switches live inside my media enclosure in house. They are sandwiched next to each other, they can get hot but I have...

Hardware for live-view monitor of 16 cameras in matrix

I doubt a chromebit stick has more horsepower than a raspberry pi 4, but I could be wrong. For the chromebit, you could run Tiny Cam Pro. That's a big plus.

Hardware for live-view monitor of 16 cameras in matrix

If that’s all you wanted to do then hands down Rasperry Pi + displaycameras app will do exactly that for you via rtsp. I have used displaycameras and it is perfect with x9 grid. It can handle it. displaycameras software is free and uses the raspberry pi onboard hardware x264 accelerator via...

Strange problem with HDMI over ethernet

So I have a particularly strange problem with a HDMI over ethernet line. The setup is simple: Dahua NVR 5432 HDMI output -> HDMI over IP (Transmitter) -> RJ45 Cat5E -> HDMI over IP (Receiver) -> 3ft. HDMI cable -> HDMI to mini-HDMI adapter -> Monitor The problem is that I want to shorten the...

    Dahua NVR5216-8p-4KS2 Keeps Rebooting

The NVR will reboot when the firmware update completes. Sometimes, the progress bar indication isn't accurate because the browser is too slow to poll the actual live progress. Did you check the system area message for the NVR version to see if it updated?

How do you get rid of the highlighted green box in Dahua NVR?

When you live view the cameras in the Dahua NVR, the selected window is highlighted in green while the rest are all in white. How do you get rid of this highlighting because it just seems un-natural and annoying. I prefer them to all be neutral/white and nothing emphasized or selected.

Possible to power camera by solar?

I see on Amazon that there are some cheap solar powered cameras. They look like wings attached to the bullet cams. That got me wondering. Most Dahua cams are about <7.5w consumption @ 12v. So that would equate to requiring a current of about 0.625A. Since a camera only gets 4-5 hours of sun...

Check out the review we did on our new License Plate Cam

Our HOA is looking to install LPR but they were directed to "Flock" camera systems. At $2000/cam/yr subscription, this is something they are hesitant. I am seriously thinking about starting a small LLC to fulfill the HOA"s needs on a LPR solution. They have been having residents complain about a...
