Hi all,

I'm wondering if any of you can help me.

Configuration:

  • I have the KD8003 setup on my front gate, powered by POE from my Hikvision NVR (which also has other IP cameras setup from it).
  • Everything is CAT6 and not long distance runs.
  • I've setup the indoor station with both wired & wifi so it's powered by the NVR but still connected to the LAN network to enable me to record the intercom camera via my NVR
  • It records audio & video on event and I'm able to both live-view it as well as retrieve the recorded files

However, my issue is despite setting it to MainStream via iVMS and the full 1080p resolution, it will only live view and record via at the substream resolution of 704x576. The other IP cameras record & live-view in full resolution without an issue.

Has anyone else had this issue and know how to fix it?

Thanks!

How did you add the camera to NVR? I use Synology for recording. And according to the rtsp channel i have main or substream

I just followed this video guide:
Key is to plug the intercom and the indoor station into your NVR directly, set the IP to the same subnet as the other IP cameras on your NVR (I used 192.168.254.x) and point the gateway to be your NVR (192.168.254.1). I had to buy an NVR with more ports to be able to add them unfortunately!

That allows the indoor station to work with your intercom, but they wont be visible to HikConnect as they're on the NVR subnet, not your LAN. That's where setting the Wifi for the indoor station to connect to your LAN (while simultaneously plugged into the NVR) comes in, to bridge the intercom out to the LAN so you can access it.

Oh, yeah , Synology surveillance is much easier, no hassle with subnets, i can just add whatevzr camera i want.. of i add the 8003, i can choose main or substream, i can choose channel there... No experience with hikvision NVR, but is there no option to choose channel?

Hi so I was having this issue. But just to check is it actually changing the resolution to 720?

The issue I had was that I setup the intercom and indoor monitor no issues. Set the resolution to 1080p. But ehen it was connected to the NVR it kept changing to 720p after a period of time time. No idea why. There must be issies with the firmware or something. I have raised this with Hikvision and awaiting a responce. So what I did was removed it from the NVR, set it back to 1080p, saved and kept and eye. No issues. Re added it to the NVR and not had the problem again. So maybe give that a try. Also check you have the most recent firmware installed.

the guide is wrong ! never connect it like that.
I have no idea why this guy do it like that because according to his other videos he have enough knowledge to know better

As shown here:

But it does not seem to work with KD8003 devices. So i fear, i have to buy an indoor station, i don't really want.

Didn't try the APK files, if you don't want an indoor panel, you can setup a PBX like Asterisk, then you can just install softphones on your mobile, no indoor needed then

No, it does not. There is no 'notification' setting for KD-8003 devices in my HikConnect app.

Yes and no. Asterisk works for me here. I can get the KD-8003 to place a SIP call when the intercom button is pressed but... that call is dropped by the KD-8003 in 10-15 seconds so not very useful :( I asked HikVision support why the calls are dropped and awaiting a reply.

Well... this is very interesting. Say I have configured the KD-8003 to dial '200' on button press.

This configuration (dial another extension directly) works fine. No call dropping:

exten => 200,1,Dial(PJSIP/6002)

However, if I want to put the intercom in a conference... well, that's when the call dropping occurs:

exten => 200,1,ConfBridge(1234)

That's odd, because testing the conference with 2 SIP clients on 2 mobile phones confirms it works just fine.

There must be something subtly different between dialling an extension and joining a conference that the KD-8003 doesn't like. Any ideas?

Hmm, never tried conference myself... What's the benefit of that?

Short answer: It's a Loxone thing.

Long answer: We have a Loxone automation system and it expects to be able to dial a SIP intercom in response to a doorbell button being pressed. The KD-8003 can't accept incoming calls though. However, I can trigger Loxone (let it know there's someone at the intercom) with a system step in an Asterisk dialplan and then place the KD-8003 into a conference. I then get my Loxone app to dial into that same conference to speak to the intercom. This does works perfectly but only for a few seconds. While this sounds convoluted it's actually not that bad a plan as when someone hits the intercom button both my partner and I will get instant notifications on our phones and if we both hit the Loxone 'Speak' button will both be put in the conference and both be able to speak with the visitor at the same time.

Ah-ha! If the KD-8003 doesn't see a ringing tone it assumes nothing is happening and even if communication is ongoing drops the SIP call. I might call that a bug, but still.

So if you want to conference with Asterisk, the way they show in the example is...

exten => 1,1,Answer()
exten => 1,n,ConfBridge(1234)

... but with the above the KD-8003 sees no ringing tone and drops the call. However, the below works:

exten => 200,1,Ringing()
exten => 200,2,wait(1)
exten => 200,3,ConfBridge(1000)

Don't know if that wait is strictly necessary but I can confirm the above seems to solve the issue.

Cool ,thnx for feedback... And after the call is finished, how do you drop the 8003 from the conference?

Also, do you see early video before the 8003 joins the call? Or only video after the 8003 is joined?

With the station KD8003 you always need an indoor monitor because this HIK account manages it.
