I knew @SJGUSMC21 would say the cheapest stuff that will go in a cup!
There is nothing like "Fire Watch" coffee for the 2 A.M.- 4 A.M. shift. (It has been boiling since yesterday @ the 4 A.M. shift start)
Or was it those little packets of instant coffee in Meal Kits stirred
briskly in those stupid metal squished cups?
Hexamine heat tabs anyone? I'll give you a hint Robert Duvall smelled heat tabs not napalm!!???
Coffee, packet, 1 each.
Then they brought out the Taster Choice shit dried crap....
But the brown no name stuff, mixed with coco was a guaranteed trip to drop off some turtles!
Never cared for the foo-foo stuff.

A high school girlfriend's father was stationed at the Navy's coffee plantation in Columbia. He told me that after Congress decided the government should not compete with the private sector, they sold the plantation and shuttered the roasters, quality went to hell. I think he said that chase & sanborn and folgers we the two approved suppliers. Found this to support his story. Sunday Ship History: Navy Coffee
Oh, Peets Major Dickasons dark roast. Black with nothing added.

All I've got to say on the subject is there is no cup of freshly brewed coffee that comes even remotely close to the incredibly pleasing smell of freshly ground coffee beans.
