Viewing two Dahua cameras

Good afternoon, I haven't been able to find an answer to my question. I received my second camera from Andy and attempted to open two IE windows to view each camera. Doesn't matter which camera I attempt to open in the the second IE window, I'm prompted to download and install the plugin. I click to install, but I'm not able to view both cameras at the same time. I'm able to access all the menus, but no live view from the second camera. Is it possible to view two or more cameras in different IE windows? I can view both cameras in SmartPSS without any issues.

Thanks

ensure the firmware matches

Maybe you need to start IE as administrator?

I just did it with no issues as follows: open IE. Then down at taskbar, right click on the IE logo and open another instance of IE (not a tab from within IE). Each window can be minimized or resized as desired.
I personally don't have a need to do it but it worked.
If you try opening another tab from within IE then you can only toggle between the two and not show both at same time, so open another instance (another window) of IE.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm prompted to install the webplugin.exe when I start the second instance of IE. I select to install, but still no live feed and continued prompt to install webplugin.exe. Actually, I'm unable to get a live view on camera 2 until I close the first instance of IE and install the webplugin.exe that is prompting from the second camera. Once I install the webplugin.exe of the second camera, the first camera's live feed will not work when I attempt another instance of IE. Then, the webplugin.exe of the first camera won't install until I close the IE instance of the second camera. It acts if there are two different versions of the plugin since these cameras aren't the same model.

Thanks

Strange.
Maybe perform a reset on IE (Tools, Internet Options, Advanced, Reset).....won't hurt. :idk:

I think people have complained about this webplugin inconsistency on different devices before.
Inspect /check each version number , see if they are different (Settings | Manage add-ons).

Each camera uses a different version number of the webplugin. I guess each camera looks for it's version number and IE doesn't allow both to be installed at the same time.

I have a mix of cameras. I only open the plug in once, I skip on the other cams. Most times I dont even get asked. All Works OK

Chrome now has a plugin where it opens anew tab. You then put cam ip there. BUT I think it requires Javascript.

Thanks, SmartPSS is running with both cameras. I was curious why I can't open two IE windows to view both cameras.

Thanks again.
When you open the second cam and it tries to install the plugin, it cannot install it properly because they share a common *.DLL file and it cannot be overwritten while the file is in use, Dahua like to dump the plugins in the same directory and if you have 2 different versions with the same name things get messy. I tested it and got the same errors but I just skipped (abort, retry, skip) it and it worked.

If the two cameras use the same firmware, you need to get them loaded with the same version. Are the two cameras the same model? That would make it easy. Each firmware file covers numerous camera models, so you might find that the same firmware can be used with both, even if different models. (For example, one firmware file covers multiple 2mp starlight models). If you can't get the cameras loaded with the same firmware, you are quite likely hosed for viewing both at the same time on a web browser. It's nothing more than a compatibility problem that shouldn't have happened.

FWIW, those 2 cams I can view in 2 IE windows at the same time? They're Amcrest (re-branded Dahua), 2 different models (IPM-721 and IP2M-842W), with different firmware (below):

If it helps, these are the two cameras that I can't view the video in two instances of IE at the same time. When switching cameras, a different webplugin.exe is installed:

Thanks for the information on Chrome.

So far, I haven't found a way to skip the install prompt to get the video to work. I can do everything else with the web GUI except the viewing of the video.

Thanks

Yes, the cameras are two different models with different firmware.
