Hey y'all,

Today I upgraded my old cam to a new 2CD2332i cam, which should have much better picture.
Unfortunately I can't access the live page, and so I can't upgrade the firmware and things like that....it's useless right now.
Is this fixable or should I return the cam?

As far as I can tell I have all my settings correct, just like the old cam.

Gateway is 192.168.1.1
Cam ip is 192.168.1.95
Port is 8000

I can change settings in SADP, and the IR leds are active.
I tried using 12V power adapter and PoE, but it's still no good.

Please help!

You need to open a supported web browser and navigate to 192.168.1.95. Then log into the camera and change the camera settings via the camera's web interface. Have you tried to do this yet?

In addition, why do you need to upgrade the camera's firmware? Upgrading camera firmware should only be attempted after great deliberation and when there is a specific need that a firmware upgrade is known to resolve.

I tried 192.168.1.95 in firefox, gave 192.168.1.95:8000 also a shot, but it won't connect.

Does SADP now report that the camera in question resides at the IP address: 192.168.1.95?

Is the PC you are using (to log into the camera) on the same subnet as the camera?

Have you tried using another browser?

192.168.1.95:8000 will not work.

192.168.1.95 should load in you browser...but you might want to also try 192.168.1.95:80 and and/or 192.168.1.95:81

Subnet is 255.255.255.0 on all settings.
I can give Edge browser a try, Chrome won't work either.

edit: nothing works :(

If nothing works then you are doing something wrong. What is the ip address of the pc running the browser that you are trying to log into the camera with?

Thanks for the help, but I gave up.
I just packed the cam and I'm returning it tomorrow.
I will buy another one later this week.

I did nothing wrong, it's not the first cam I've installed.

I can give Edge browser a try, Chrome won't work either.
You presumably know that neither of these browsers support the type of plugin that webcomponents consists of, the one the camera prompts you to install. Edge supports no plugins at all. Chrome no longer supports NPAPI plugins.
Without which you will have no Live View, nor any ability to change and save any settings.
So the camera will be fine.
Save yourself the hassle, and install Webcomponents on IE11 or Firefox, it will work just fine.

I have webcomponents installed, gave firefox a try as well.
I'm sure the camera was no good.
I ordered a new one, returned the bad one.
So I'll just wait and see if the new one will work.

I have my doubts.
+1

Have a feeling OP will still have the same problems with replacement. Highly unlikely to be a bad camera. Seems more like a configuration or plugin issue.

Ha, got the new cam today, slightly different model too, a DS-2CD2342WD-i.

It works like a charm!!
So I was right, previous cam wasn't good :loyal:

The previous cam was obviously bricked or something like that.
But anyway, big deal, I got a working cam now, forget the previous one.

Just one more question I'm trying to figure out:

I currently have a USB drive connected to my router, setup as a FTP server.
Now I can't get motion detection working, it's not even uploading pictures.
All FTP settings are correct since the test gets written to the FTP location.

Would it be better to drop the whole FTP thing and switch to a NAS?

Come on dude, that's not very mature...
Did I do something wrong?

Even with the best advice you could give, that cam was never gonna work, people at the shop confirmed it.
So don't be like that, all I do is ask a normal question.
