Trying to upgrade firmware for DS-7616N-E2/16P

I have searched the internet up and down and I can't find the firmaware for NVR model DS-7616N-E2/16P

I read somewhere that those were originally chinese and are not upgradeable

Have you guys had luck upgrading Hikvision NVR and then maybe switched them to ENG language?

I would greatly appreciate some help here

That's a China region NVR - any update with EN/ML firmware will result in the '15-beep bootloop' problem.

To allow the use of EN menus on newer firmware, there are 2 approaches :

Install 'hacked to English firmware'. Works only for the specific hacked firmware.

If the existing firmware is old enough that it has not encrypted the 'bootpara data' in the mtdblock1 hidden partition, that data can be edited to permanently change CN to EN and allow updates with the stock firmware.
Hikvision spotted the fix in IPCamTalk and changed the firmware to no longer have bootpara data in plaintext.
