Just finished up reading all 45 pages, and am looking for some guidance/clarification. I am currently running
Blue Iris, with only one camera installed (just starting out). My next space to add a camera to is my front door alcove. The doorbell is on the side wall of the alcove (perpendicular to the entry door). Sometimes it will be hit by direct sunlight. I am in Florida, and it gets very humid, lots of rain in afternoons. While some have recommended the Dahau Starlites (mini dome, dual starlight, etc), the "larger" form factor, has been given the thumbs down by the wife. Additionally, getting a
Cat5 cable to the location required would not be easy, as it is stucco over concrete block, and I am not interested in a conduit-type solution here.
In researching doorbell cams, I came across this thread. Here is what *I think* I've learned, and am requesting confirmation/experiences.
Goals:
1) Integrate with Blue Iris, and let Blue Iris send me all of my notifications, record 24/7, and set alert points (like it does with other camera)
2) Don't really want video feeds/alerts going to cloud service. Want to keep them inside my firewall, not accessible from WAN. Only accessible from within LAN (or over VPN)
3) Be able to turn off IR, as I've seen some terrible night images in this thread. Have no issue with disconnecting connectors, or de-soldering.
1) The Dahau DB-11 seemed like a good option, but does not seem to be ready for prime time. And I am not sure where to purchase it from.
2) This thread talks about RCA, LTS, HIK, UNIDEN... basically all rebranded versions of the same cameras.
- All require cloud service
- RCA was preferable to some due to no branding (until the new RCA version)
- Where can the RCA version (old one) be purchased? I see the new version on Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07GN355R6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_bh-MBbGGDH581?tag=ipctk-20)
- All can be flashed when new firmware is released
- Can Wireless IP be set manually (i.e. not through my router DHCP)?
- Is there any "Non-Brick" protection, i.e. factory-reset button/procedure?
- It looks like the Uniden version is no longer available locally at my neighboring Home Depots... Perhaps they are not making these rebrands?
Anything I missed? Suggestions welcome.
