Splitting coax cable

Has anyone split coax cable from cameras to send signal to two DVRs?

I'm wondering how much quality loss is involved.

Thank you for your insights..

Most coax as it relates to the security camera world is old crappy poorly shielded rg-59 cable with a poor center conducter and even poorer dielectric (the insulation around the center conductor). By splitting your going to reduce the signal by 3.5 dBm as that is what the standard loss of a quality 2-way splitter is. Combine that loss with the attenuation of rg-59 cable and I would say don't do it. My guess is since no one responded to this also its most likely not possible or surely not recommended.

Good luck

Thank you for your response. I figured as much, although without the specificity of number of decibel loss, since this is not my field of 'expertise'. Your response I greatly appreciated!

In that I think I have found a different alternative to executing my goal of recording CCTV to 2 sources simultaneously, I probably won't be forced to do something stupid.

Again, Thank You for the response. I apologize for delay in returning the favor.
