Wow no air traffic either! Been a while since I've reported no aircraft over the city

Ahhh, you guys need to put your big boy pants on. That's a snow flurry!

Seriously, not having experience with snow/ice then getting some is a disaster. Up here, the first snowstorm is always bumper cars because people just don't remember the basic rules of physics, mass and traction being the key ones. We've had snow cover for two weeks now and have been getting on and off freezing rain for the last few days. It sure isn't much fun. Just stay safe and remember, mass and traction.

Gotta keep the stray cats warm

That's just a portable wind turbine, dummy

Looks like the baby wind turbine trying to wake up its mother

RE: wind turbine. Is this for real? is there a video somewhere? Hard to believe it as there are hundrests of wind turbines in Michigan.

Over 4,000,000 homes without power right now in TX. Temps are single digits in much of the state.

The infrastructure was never designed for these temps. Being without electricity at these temperatures would be difficult and dangerous.

All those that think renewable energy is the answer may want to do a reality check. IMG_1795.jpg

The reality of this is that there is wind, natural gas and coal power plants ALL offline. Its a clusterfuck of planning, nothing to do with renewable energy

Cold countries and cold states do fine

Luckily I still have power, and have not lost it yet. My next purchase is a generator though

I keep putting it off, every time there is a hurricane or something I want one, then it calms down and I forget

Not this time!

The year we moved into this house there was a big snowstorm, as in almost two feet. We didn't lose power but it got me thinking. That summer I bought a generator. The following fall Super Storm Sandy took out power for almost six days. We had lights, heat, water and, most importantly, hot coffee! Best money I ever spent, other than the snow blower ;)

Here is the breakdown for Texas, to blame it on renewable energy is a little odd

Yes, I'm in the Dallas area, we have been dealing with the "rolling" outages. Our longest was nearly 9 hours with temps near zero.

Agree, A generator is a must. (if I lose power, I lose water too)
Yes, I sure wish I had one now but you probably couldn't find one within 500 miles of my house. Even if I ordered one off Amazon the crisis would probably be over by the time I got it, and in Dallas area we might not need it again for years but it sure would be nice to have one just in case.
