Hey, because Dahua changed their P2P system new NVRs I install cannot be accessed through my old SmartPSS install. I migrated to smartpss lite and it's very buggy in a way that some NVRs get locked out because of "max channels". I know it's not true, because these NVRs are 8/16channels, while 32channels connect ok. It says the limit is 64 channels so why it incorrectly disables these NVRs. And also what happened to SmartPSS. When I tried to download the newest version with P2P as noted on dahuawiki website, I cannot click the windows logo to download.

My 2 year old version of SmartPSS works fine?, as does Lite.

Are you saying something changed on the new NVRs to not allow P2P? I didnt know P2P knew where I was connecting from or what device?

Basically I installed a new NVR last week at my client's company and while adding it to my old SmartPSS I noticed it was not connecting. The SN of this NVR contains "RAZ" in the middle instead of the standard "PAZ" and it's series3(?) The model ends in 4KS3 instead of the standard 4KS2. The GUI also looks a little bit different the icons have a different style. Then I've noticed on dahuawiki website this statement "NOTE: New devices on the latest firmware will not work on older versions of SmartPSS via P2P. Please update to the latest version of SmartPSS" Since SmartPSS is not avaiable there for Windows. I've downloaded SmartPSS lite. The new NVR works fine, some of the older devices have this error. I generally can say these are older installations, but I do not have a way to drive fe hundred km to a client and update their firmware , also not every NVR has a new firmware. Very disappointed in Dahua. Always chose them over HIK but I think i'll have to reconsider

Interesting.
Yeah Im using it on older NVRs with no problem. Mostly the now EOL "Pro" models (which I prefer because adding the AI to the new NVRs make for problems, AI doesnt work as well as on the camera, and lose 1/2 your bandwidth, and are more expensive. Lose/Lose)

My understanding is they are killing support of SmartPSS and forcing you to buy DSS. Hopefully they'll keep SmartPSS Lite available for consumers or I'll have to switch also.

Seems that in new 30. september 2024 update SmartPSS max channel limit is reduced to 32. However, it means online channels, so if you have devices added in SmartPSS lite that more than 32 channels total online, all devices which add up over 32 are disconnected.
I have "auto log in to device" not selected, so by default all my devices are offline and I just log in those I need that moment, so no big harm of channel limit, as there are no single NVRs that have more than 32 channels in my device list. However, if I log in a 16-channel device and then try to log in a device that has 22 channels online, the latter will be disconnected...

SmartPSS in any version (normal, lite) is big shit show..
Dahua broken its code many years ago and they don't known how to fix this..
empty new installation without any device added and it takes 100% cpu..

In Poland, there is one very big and old OEM partner of both Dahua and HIK..
They sells a lot od Dahua/Hik and even Uniview cams under own brand (something like Andy here on forum, but they are much much bigger).

They developed own Windows / Mac and even Linux app called BCS manager..
It works with Dahua and HIK cams using private protocols or even any other using ONVIF..
And this apps works much better that SmartPSS...

Page is in polish (You can turn on automatic translation), but app is in English..
Default user/pass is admin/admin
download and try to use..
download links are on bottom of the page..

ps. BCS line is different name for Dahua cams (important when You choose protocol)...

ps2. description in english:

Thanks! Looks good software - tough it does not support P2P.

Found another new limit in new SmartPSS lite: 10 minutes continuous live view and then stream is closed.

Mine does not do that

Ahh, I suppose thats possible. Im on local IP

The Dahua P2P servers have been altered for Europe...

I checked on my SmartPSS Lite on Mac...

it displayed & streamed over P2P from NVR in different country for a few hours.. Zero problems..
Both in Europe...

so You have broken version of SMartPSS (check website from link below for different versions) or You have firewall or ISP which blocks P2P (it happens) and connection is going over Dahua cloud for a full stream (then there is 10 minutes limit - Dahua must pay for bandwidth and servers You used)..
