What's the best server software that supports Hikvision DS-2CD3132-I that people recommend? I've tried Milestone and exaqVision and honestly Milestone was pretty unreliable for me. WebUI would often lag and the quality wasn't too great, especially for mobile app. ExaqVision was better for ease of use for the client software and mobile app was ok. Both however stored the recordings in its own proprietary formats so viewing them off a network share was not possible. Trying to see if there are any alternatives.

BI rocks

I've tried BI. It's not bad but has some rough edges, like the other ones I trialed. Kinda surprising there aren't any better solutions.

There are alternatives but at a MUCH higher cost...milestone, exacq etc...100 per camera for features similar to BI..

For a larger installation I'd recommend Avigilon over those others. Easy to set up and use, very stable, and keeps connected to cameras with dodgy connections (bad cables or wifi) better than other things I've used. For my use I switched to Blue Iris because of the flexibility, price, and great software motion detection. Best bang for the buck for the homeowner or small business. If you don't have a Kraft Dinner budget then by all means consider other options, particularly if you have cameras with line crossing, PIR, and other advanced motion detection options that negate some of BI's motion detection advantages, particularly if you live in an area with very expensive electricity. I don't.
