Well....that really didn't work out the way I thought it would....item arrived today, but box had a huge hole in it. I opened up the box, and the front of the case is damaged, and there is a huge dent on the outer PC case directly opposite of where the motherboard sits....needless to say, I'm working with eBay on a refund.

...back to square one....

That's the risk with a two review seller I was concerned about...but its worth the shot...ebay will take care of it if the seller doesnt.

Yes...we'll see what happens. I could not believe the way it was packaged....there was bubble wrap around the perimeter of the tower, but NOTHING on the two exposed sides (top / bottom of the shipping box)....uggggg

Looking at this for a possible replacement:

DELL OPTIPLEX 5050 SFF DESKTOP PC I7-7700 32GB DDR4 RAM 1TB SSD WIFI WIN11 | eBay

$185 for I7-7700, 16GB DDR4 RAM, 256GB SSD drive

Nope...an i5-8500 is not only more powerful than this older I7, but will run w11 and the 7th gen will not...

@ fenderman- got it. one of the links showed no HD and no mounting tray as well....I'll look at the $104 9th gen proc you posted....was hoping to stick with dell hardware, but we'll see.

I'm in the same situation moving one from a i7-4765t with 2x 1600 RAM. My setup uses such a small amount of resources, I'm not looking for additional processing power, but less electricity.
I'm looking at the N97, N100 and N200. N6005 was also on my short list may be the best for the specific purpose of hardware encoding. Would have pretty much the same processing power, same memory bandwidth. just at 6-10 watts rather than 45-60w at the wall.

Modern processors are very efficient. The processors in your post are weak and overpriced. You would never make your money back.

IDK, my electric prices are through the roof, especially in winter, extra multipliers due to electric heat. the Mini PC's are $200 shipped with windows. I actually expect to make that up over the life cycle short of premature failure.
