Remote blayback over ddns says FAILED Playback

I can remote playback on the app, I can playback on the NVR but I am not able to playback via the web using the ddns connection setup

you need to forward the http and rtsp ports for that...
or use vpn if you want a secure connection

I did fwd the port and I am using Hikvision NVR it works on the app using the fwd'd port which is again via ddns

The app uses the rtsp and media port.
You likely didnt properly forward the http port. You need to use a different external port number, other than 80.

and? what happens..you need to be more specific than, its not working..what port did you enter in the browser? how did you enter it? did you check if its open?

The port is open and I can login, see live view pull up playback function but when I click play it just says playback failed
I am trying to playback a footage from earlier today using the web I am at work now
the setup is through the hikvision ddns

As @fenderman advised - you need both HTTP and RTSP for Live View via the browser.

I can see live view - I can NOT playback.......... via the browser. always says playback failed.

yes sir bec I am the admin and I can remote playback from the ivms app on my iphone
