Possible ideas for hiding cameras such as LPRs?

We've seen images posted by forum members of creative ways to hide cameras: birdhouses, camo duct tape, mailboxes and more. I've envisioned a small, old fashioned well like the image below-left.

And then this morning an e-mail from Harbor Freight gave me another idea......a flower cart might also work. I'm thinking smaller, built with recycled plastic, wood-like lumber and plastic flowers. The shade of the roof should allow the flowers to maintain their color longer.

Yes, they're both elaborate but it may fit the bill when your simpler, quicker idea gets shot down by your "significant other". As most cam veterans here know, WAF cannot be ignored.

I'll be the first to admit I like to inspire others with an idea, watch them go from thought to paper to reality, improve upon it and then I'll come along later and steal their creation....at least intellectually. The older I get it seems so much easier to think up stuff that I don't have the energy or wherewithal to implement...but maybe that keeps my brain going, a task that is also becoming a chore. The wife says " oh, your brain is still going, but is it going in the right direction?" :lol:

Any way, back on track...below are images of the well and the most recent, the HF flower cart.

I guess it would also depend on what will 'fit' your yard and neighborhood. The HOA where I live now would never allow the flower cart and probably not the wishing well. But one place I lived in, a rusted out car on blocks would have never even been noticed.

Exactly. It would depend on your yard, what would fit, and the area that you want the camera to focus on. The one I just did in the tree had few options like maybe two at the most.

And it came out great. I have a couple of trees in the front yard and had considered putting my LPR cams in them. But decided against it. Maybe if I had seen the recent postings of folks doing that, and how they camo'ed them, I would have tried it.

I'd love a good method to hide in a bush.
But then you have problems with leaves in the cameras view (and IR glare). So a method without having such a large cut-out in the bush would be helpful to myself.

Next idea I had was to hide inside a mailbox. I have a brick mailbox so one brick missing and it poking through could be an idea.
Or a fake rock with a camera inside. Great use for black face turret/bullet.

I thought about that also yesterday when searching for the well house....like these at Home Depot.

The one linked is 24 in. L x 12 in. W x 13 in. H....plenty of room.

Mailbox Camera

A few months ago I was taking out the trash and while walking down the driveway I noticed a car stopping at our mailbox, opening it and driving away. It was dark so I know it was not the rural mail carrier. We live in a rural area and have had occasions of missing mail in the past. We don't have...

I purposely won a local auction lot for a full sized oil rubbed bronze official metal mailbox, just for LPR duties. $5 :)
I have that damaged birdhouse holding my 5442 turret.
I really like that little wood well pictured above. Once I get my wood working shop back in service, I plan on doing some magic!

If that tree was bigger It would of been completely hidden.
and to be honest; I do not think someone walking past on the road would see it unless they're looking hard.

My main concern would be the IR in that.

The IR is not turned on. I am using the available street lighting. I will upgrade it when someone comes out with a 4K version that has the 1/1.2" sensor or larger.

I've got some wagon wheel yard art and old farm implements. With a little red oxide primer the implements would hide any size camera. The pinhole camera that Andy mentioned would work well in the wagon wheel axle or the axle of that Harbor freight flower cart.
