Parley
Known around here
Any new information?
Not too sure what kind of glass but it is clear not smoked glass. My friend who helped me with installation of the glass who knows a lot more about glass than me said it is an " Double Strength" Glass. From here it looks smoked but it could just be the camera. I'm guessing you went with Low Iron Glass? If not, it would have been my choice behind only fluorite.
Cool Awesome Thank you for that info. Do you know if I can paint it ? I was thinking paint it black so it can kind of blend in or not stand out.. I guess. I guess dont have to worry about water or rust since its stainless steel it be just soley for looks to make it hide as much as possible It is brushed stainless steel I believe.11 gauge is relatively heavy duty stuff. ~1/8" thickness. You should be OK.
You can. Rough it up some first with a scuffing pad or similar and get it clean of any oils/grease/etc. That will help with adhesion. Depends on the stainless how resistant it is but for an application like that you won't see much if any rust/corrosion with just about any. Most likely will be 304 and will be fine.Cool Awesome Thank you for that info. Do you know if I can paint it ? I was thinking paint it black so it can kind of blend in or not stand out.. I guess. I know this may sound funny, but I'd try spraying it with flat black Plasti-Dip first to try. I love Plasti-dip LOL.... you can peel it off if you don't like and a can is cheap ($6). I plasti-dip my winter snow rims wich clear to protect them. We use lots of stainless steel at my work and it won't (shouldn't) rust, just keep bleach away from it as bleach can cause it to pit and look poor. Like @Mike A. said, a bit of light scuffing and really clean it well. Stainless doesn't like paint as well as regular steel but with prep it's fine. Try the plastidip route first, you may be suprised. Oh, and 11 gauge is very sturdy!Cool Awesome Thank you for that info. Do you know if I can paint it ? Yeah I will have some shots from it soon once I get the bracket. I ordered. In terms of cost this one can really get expensive. Can't wait to see this cam, I'm drooling over it's capabilities - wide view, 4K. Do you mind me asking what the entire set-up will end up costing - so I know how long to save up for. I've come to the mindset that I just want the best cams if I'm using these to see things, but I need to save for one over a bit of time... Can't wait to see your reviews and shots from it.
Good luck hopefully in future the price drops for it.. Or we have more options in 35mm and cheaper hopefully. Even though as Much I love this cam remember this is a fixed camera and not PTZ or even with Motorized zoom or anything so that is the reason I think 4/3 is still kind of best of both worlds And AI track is just bonus and huge.. But I still do love the sony 35mm as well just because so far it was and I think still is the only security cam on planet with 35mm full frame sensor.Double what I was thinking in my head. I will vicariously live through your super badass cam though!!! So awesome that you share it with us - that's a dream cam now for me.
That is exactly its job its going to be and it will do cross with 4/3 on the other side so I can get both color shots at night in very depth hopefullyI think your 35mm cam is the best overview cam and you could use it's capabilities to "spot" for the PTZ cams so that they know where to move and zoom to. Having such a wide FOV and so crisp and image in low light makes it great for that purpose.
