Hello to all. I'm a newbie in the surveillance world and I'm looking for some DIY solutions to keep my home safe and away from the bad guys.
So, I lurked for a couple of months the forum and I learned so much good stuff about cameras, switch, wiring, etc…, but I need your suggestions to create a good surveillance system.
In points, this is what I thought so far:

Do you think is a good configuration?
Any suggestions?

In points, this is what I thought so far:
- put 7 outdoor cameras on external wall (8 ft max); the idea was to buy 7 IPC-HDW5231R-Z dahua cam
- passing a cat6 cable from each camera to a switch inside the house.
- buy a poe+ switch; I saw this one (https://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-GS40...r=8-1&keywords=Switch+Netgear+GS408EPP-100NES) but I’m not sure if it’s too much for my domestic system. I don’t want to waste my money and that switch is far away to be a cheap solution;
- connect the switch to a DELL Optiplex 3050 i5-7500, and run Blue Iris in it.
