length of bolt needed to go through wood siding and wood panel in garage wall?

Newbie here installing a camera. Wondering how long a bolt needs to be to make it though wood siding and the wood panel that makes up most garage walls/exterior. I put my hands across it and I have a hard time telling. Would a 2" long bolt be enough to poke through and give enough length for washer and nut?

Wishing to not make 2 trips to hardware store at this time.

Suggestion :
Drill the needed hole, poke something suitable through it, measure the result.

Why are you using a bolt instead of a screw?

Depends on how the house was constructed. There isn’t a “universal fit”.

Im with fenderman. Screws would probably be better.
