YES!!! That is it! I just received 2 emails to yahoo and 2 emails to Gmail.
I had a deer kindly walk by the camera this morning and got an email with a snapshot. Nothing about it in the NVR log. Nothing in the camera log.

Some birds (also motor vehicles) walked in front of the camera and I got the email but no snapshot. It was from a different IVS rule than when I got the earlier snapshot. The rules are configured identically on both the camera and NVR, other than the location of the tripwire. Then 11 minutes later a deer walked through and there was no email. I'm assuming that's because of the sending interval. It has a minimum of 30 minutes which I think is new in the v4 firmware.

After not a whole lot of testing it's appearing random whether or not the email gets a snapshot attached.

Odd I get emails pretty much 100% on IVS trigger. Now after dark it’s hit and miss whether the IVS will trigger at all ....

Based about 10 IVS triggers today I've made the following conclusions:

1. The IVS trigger emails are sent most of the time once the Sending Interval has expired.
2. I haven't figured out what happens to triggers while the Sending Interval is counting down.
3. The emails have a snapshot attached about half the time. Looks pretty random so far.
4. Deer, birds, and humans are reported as motor vehicles.
5. Squirrels and flying insects are reported as humans.

I suppose I should try a different camera to see if that has anything to do with it.

Is that a 5442? Maybe a newer firmware?
In fairness mine are running color at night with good ambient light.

Is it better to have several tripwires or just have one?

I worked outside yesterday and after going inside and checking my email(s) I had 190 notifications to each email. I'm certain tripwire is working just fine! : ) I forget

On some cams I have more than one to be able to schedule active time differently or to more precisely cover two choke points.

For instance I have one that has an intrusion box around my drive 24/7 and it also has a tripwire crossing the street in front of my house, but it’s only active midnight to 5am and only for inbound vehicles. Living on a short culdesac street I like to see emails in the morning of any vehicle that came into the neighborhood after midnight.

Not necessarily anything wrong with what you show in the pic. Experiment and walk around both day and especially after dark to see how they perform

My previous report about IVS email alerts was with an older camera in use. I switched over to a 5442 and the result is a bit different:

  • Snapshots were attached to 100% of the alerts.
  • None of the animals were identified as motor vehicles or humans (no ID stated at all).
  • Alerts while the sending interval was active were discarded.
  • Sending interval was 60 minutes even though I have it set for 30 minutes.
  • The event end times were 2 to 3 seconds after the event start times, but the end messages were sent 58 minutes later.

So it kinda-sorta works ok, with bugs.

Hmmm not my exoerience at all. I get the event email within say 30 seconds and a 1-2 minutes later the end message email.
