Hey there everyone,

I have a 5216 NVR and a HFW5442T camera, it is all Empire stuff. I do not receive emails when a tripwire is tripped by car or human.

I have set up tripwire(s) using IE for the camera. When someone walks or drives through the line it blinks and turn red. I setup email notification and when I do the test it sends a test email to the emails.

What am I missing?

if you are using gmail. Try a different email service.
I found a video to setup Gmail so I used that as a Gmail send and a Gmail and Yahoo as receive. If you know the specs on setting up a Yahoo as send I can try it.

If I receive test emails to both Gmail and Yahoo then it is working, no? I feel like there is a link between the tripwire and send process.

Assuming you have SMTP setup on the NVR (*you must as your test works)

Try making sure you have IVS recording

you DO have IVS chosen in Smart Plan right?

I have the NVR send the emails and that works.
Hello Tiger
Let me rephrase it. If I have my NVR send test emails and I receive them what is missing between the IVR and emails? This is from IE to the NVR

So to be clear, having the IP camera >Event >IVS >Rule Config >Send Email box checked or unchecked has nothing to do with receiving notifications when a tripwire is triggered.

Yes it does, you need that checked plus the SMTP setup as above on the NVR. Looks right

I realized I've not enabled the email sending since I upgraded the NVR to v4 firmware, so I'm going to test it. It could take a while with our killer wildfire smoke outside. I'm not going outside to trigger it, and the animals are all laying low.

It was not enabled but now every day for the Snapshot tab shows Regular and IVS enabled and every day for the Record tab shows Regular and IVS enabled. I did not restart the NVR but I tested it and the lines blink and turn red but it did not send an email.

I figured out how to enable sending IVS email after figuratively pulling all my hair out. Nasty UI design.

Go to AI page
Expand parameters
Select IVS
Select camera channel
Scroll parameter frame full down
Select More
Select Send Email
Click OK

Must do individually for each IVS rule

I've not had a chance to test it yet.

I found that is a better way to get notifications direclty from the application gdmss plus than the email. It send you either a photo or a video when trigger.

Hmmmm I’m not as familiar with 4.0 UI as the older one. Testing this now...

I do know that that particular 4.0 NVR I’m using to test has all along sent me emails for network outages as I have the smtp info entered on the NVR, but honestly because it’s an HOA NVR watching the street and I don’t want a bazillion. Emails from it, I didn’t think to check that for IVS from a camera.

I assumed like 3.0 that ticking the box on the camera IVS page for email would, like most other camera settings, populate back to the NVR...

will advise

And confirmed.
Both a camera plugged into PoE using the 10.1.1.x switch as well as a camera recording on the same NVR but using an external switch in the NVR's subnet.

It seems in NVR4.0, that function no longer gets pushed to the NVR from the camera and must be set on the NVR under the AI tab as detailed and found be @tigerwillow1 above.

Thanks @tigerwillow1 for finding this. @BruceWayne007 this is your missing link.

Excellent work.
