Andy,

The camera I purchased from you on Amazon just stopped working the other day. I purchased it on September 2, 2018 and it has been working flawlessly until 3 days ago. I've tried unplugging it, restarting it, and nothing seems to work.

Do you (or anyone else) have any suggestions?

How are you powering the cam...POE or external 12VDC adapter?
  • If using POE for power, have you tried another port? Another cable? If neither work, did you try external 12VDC adapter?
  • If powered by 12VDC external adapter, try another with equal or higher amperage rating @ 12VDC.

POE for power - tried all 4 ports on the router. My next step is to try another POE router to see if that will work... last step is the external adapter that injects power to the line.
 
Routers don't have POE ports, switchs do.
How was the camera outdoor connection water proofed when it was installed?
Take a pic and show us.
Did you make the cables and crimp the ends?
Did you use Pure Solid Copper Ethernet cable and not CCA?
 
If you were unable to try another working Ethernet cable wired to T-568B on both ends, bypassing the existing one, because of length, it's in the attic, etc. you might try (after trying a different POE port or external 12VDC adapter), dismounting the cam so you can bring it in to power up at the POE source.

At that time you can inspect the connection at the cam for corrosion as @fenderman suggested.

I've done that. Look inside the camera RJ45 connector and see if it looks like this...

If this is what happened it most likely ruined the camera's connector, and perhaps the PoE switch port too. Check the port with a known good camera. If the camera's connector is fried you may be able to repair the camera using the methods described in this topic...

It's going to have to wait until the weekend to take a picture of the connection - since I leave when it's dark and come home when it's dark. It's under an eave located above my garage door. Yeah, I misspoke - I typed router but meant switch. The cable was purchased - not built, so no crimping issues (that I'm aware of). It has been raining here but the camera connection should be waterproof - it is wrapped in rubber insulation tape and it is under an eave as I mentioned. But who knows... maybe my waterproof tape is not really waterproof. I'll check on it on Saturday afternoon if it isn't raining.

I'll need to connect up another camera to check the switch out - should be easy enough to do.
 
Good news is if it is truly a camera mfg defect, it sounds as if Andy has been pretty good about handling warranty fix \ replacements.
Bad news is, if he agrees to take it back for repair\replacement, shipping back to China is slow and the cost is on you which can be quite a bit. :facepalm:

...Also note, Andy probably does not read every single post on this forum so you will want to contact him directly through his profile IM or email address.
 
Just get the ball part back to repair, normally the cost is very low, if dahua can't fix up it, they will send a brand new camera.

So it turns out that some moisture did get into the splitter that takes the power to the camera. I put a new splitter in and everything is working again. See the attached pictures for the camera placement, camera connectors, splitter that plugs into the camera connectors, and then the splitter end that plugs into the CAT6 cable (with power) where you can see the blueish/green moisture remnants.

consider powering the cam with an 802.3 poe switch so you dont need any splitters.
EDIT: I see you say you have a POE router which is unlikely. Are you powering the camera via a switch?

I have a POE switch. So are you saying that I don't need the splitter and can plug the cat6 cable directly into the cable port for the camera? I thought one had to split it to provide the power to the camera at that point.

Camera to rj45.. to poe switch rj45 no need for splitter
