Getting the hang of it

Hello,

Last year I bought a few IPC-HDW5231R-ZE cameras from Andy. I've decided to upgrade the firmware on 6 of them, but can only get 4 to upgrade. The other 2 keep getting stuck on Transmitting files... and never move past that, regardless of what firmware I select to install, including the one it came with (2.622.0000000.18.R, Build Date: 2017-11-10).

The cameras all work great. I can login and manage them fine, but those 2 won't upgrade, no matter what software I use. I've tried with IE, Chrome, SmartPSS, ONVIF Device Manager and 2 versions of ConfigTool.

Tried setting both cameras to Default and then Factory Default, but neither way works. I am ok with the current firmware except I'd like the Day/Night and no-plugin features, which the other 4 cameras now have. I'm hoping that someone has seen this and maybe be able to help? Thanks.

DH_IPC-HX5X3X-Rhea_EngSpnFrn_N_Stream3_V2.622.0000000.31.R.180813,
And DH_IPC-HX5X3X-Rhea_EngSpnFrn_N_Stream3_V2.622.0000000.18.R.20171110 just for kicks.

Not sure what you're asking. All 6 cameras are using POE and have static IP's. POE switch is connected to router and so is the PC.

Log On to a working camera and backup the config file, save it and up load it to the non working(or non up-gradable ) Cam. Worth a shot I have gotten myself out of a few issues this way, Always good practice to back em up anyway. Proceed at your own risk.

Tried that just now. Exported the config file from a working camera (which already has the new firmware). Did a factory default on one of the 2 cameras that won't upgrade, then imported the saved config file and tried the upgrade again. No dice. It's been stuck on Transmitting files now for 5 minutes.

Its getting lost in translation. He is offering to help you if you provide him access to the camera. Only you can decide if you trust him enough.
Thanks fenderman!
How are you?

Hi is novice & question not in trust or not.
Hi can himself break ipc during upgrade or something else...
Main question is this ipc is real that model or..
And of course ipc can possible to upgrade via TFTP using TTL2USB adapter...

These are 2 of 18 cameras that I bought from Andy. It's possible I did something different when trying to upgrade them, but I doubt it. I'm going to see if I can do it via one of the methods you described. If I'm still stumped after that, I'll probably PM you. Thank you for your attempt to help, I really do appreciate it.

Well, are you going through a switch or upgrading them on a bench direct. Long shot but networking hardware swap around might be worth a shot.If not then going deep might be your only way, on the other hand, If it ain't broke and its not bothering you too much ,Don't mess with it, Good luck.

I've been considering that, thanks.

I did all cameras thru the switch. I tried one of the problem cameras direct with the same result.

Ok

Sorry for bumping this old thread, but I finally have closure.

I had decided last year that since the 2 cameras in question worked fine, that I would just leave them as they were.

Today, reading through this TFTP thread, I thought I'd try to update the FW using that method just for the heck of it, and lo and behold, it worked.

I upgraded the FW to DH_IPC-HX5X3X-Rhea_MultiLang_NP_Stream3_Market_V2.800.0000013.0.R.191202 after changing a couple lines in the TFTP commands.txt file to get it to work. Two instances of "0x82000000" had to be changed to "0x02000000" as per a post in that thread.

After it was done and the cameras were up and running, I then used the Web GUI to upgrade again, hoping that the TFTP method had fixed whatever issue had kept the cameras from upgrading this way. This upgrade was to DH_IPC-HX5X3X-Rhea_MultiLang_NP_Stream3_V2.800.0000016.0.R.200605, and it went without a hitch. So now, finally, all my IPC-HDW5231R-ZE cameras are updated and working as I wanted.
