I had trouble getting email to work on my NVR.
I managed to do it not by using the smtp adress, but by entering 74.125.136.109.

That suggests the DNS setting on the NVR is not working, if the URL cannot be resolved.
Normally, it would be your router IP address, which acts as a DNS relay.
But what works well with Hikvision devices are the Google DNS servers 8.8.8.8 and 4.4.4.4
