Hikvision to hire 10,000 R&D resources

Pissed at people trying to fix buggy firmware themselves, Hikvision is hiring 10,000 R&D resources. Rumors say that 5,000 of those will be tasked with replacing the current outdated XOR encryption with double ROT13 and the other half will focus on devising a new encryption scheme that does not use the word "HangZhou".

But wow! That's a lot of R&D jobs.
There is no doubt that intelligent vision systems are a big growth area, there are so many applications that can use the technology, much broader than surveillance.
 
Just another State Sponsored Jobs Program.. they're gonna need it with all the jobs that are flocking back to Merica :p
 
I think they're realizing dahua has been doing a better job in R&D lately it also takes a lot of work to disguise the backdoors for the Chinese government :D
