Hikvision Privacy/Security concerns am I exposed

Hi All,
I am a newbie and have a Hikvision setup. The more I read the more concerns I have that I have exposed myself through port forwarding. I believe i did setup some ports on my router so iamges during a intrusion can be emailed to me. What is the best way to check if Ii am exposed on the net?

Disable all port forwarding...setup vpn..you dont need port forwarding for email alerts...you need it (or vpn) to view video remotely.

Router, and disable upnp on the nvr and router..

If you want to check if you are exposing your private network to the internet without knowing it (eg UPnP enabled on the router and network devices) connect to the ShieldsUp! scanner to find out.
Do the long scan for all ports.
