Picked up a DS-2cd2632F-IS. Chinese serial number and sticker on cam says V5.3.0 bld 150513.
SAPD shows it as V5.2.5 bld 14120. does that means its already been converted to english?
The menus are in english now. Can i safely upgrade to the current version?

That will most likely result in a bricked camera.
To update with any EN/ML firmware you'll need to convert the camera from CN to EN first.
This method has been successfully used by many :
Unbrick and fully upgrade your R0 / DS-2CD2x32 IP cameras -
R0 / DS-2CD2x32 BrickfixV2 brick recovery and full upgrade tool - enhanced.

I haven’t attempted this yet. Any reason to upgrade? Is 5.2.5 ok to use?

The 5.2.5 firmware does have some security vulnerabilities, the older user interface, and can freeze every few months.
But if it's not accessible from the internet or should be fine.
