HikVision and PoE ports

guys,

hope someone can help, I have a DS-7716NI-I4 / 16P and I want to use a port to power my external IR's, I have attached a poe splitter to port 16, but it not suppling any power to the bullet. does the NVR need LAN connection before it will supply power out of the PoE ?

Any ideas ?

What type of splitter?
If this is an active splitter, compliant with 802.3af then it should work OK.
If it's a passive splitter it will not work.

thanks for the advise the above link worked a treat. powering all my external IR's use this and 6 way DC splitter.
