New to the forum. I have already found so much useful information here. Here is a list of equipment and history if it helps:

I am running a 12 IP camera system consisting of the following:

NVR - 7616NI-E2/8P w/ 8TB

1 x DS-2DF7584-a PTZ
1 x DS-2CD2532F-IWS
2 x DS-2CD2432F-IW
4 x DS-2CD2132-I
4 x DS-2CD2032-I

4 x cameras are running POE through a switch and 7 cameras are on the NVR POE. The 7284 PTZ was running through the NVR w. seperate power.

So I had everything working great and couldn't leave well enough alone. I wanted more functionality out of the expensive PTZ and hooked it to my switch hoping to use Smart Track or other options. When I accessed the 7284 via web browser I found chinese only language with no other option. Also my iVMS4200 would not accept it seperate of the NVR and gave a language error. My firmware was V5.1.8 build 140616. I found an english firmware on Hikvision Europe. I first tried upgrading to 5.2.8 without success. Read notes that 5.3.0 couldn't be downgraded or language changed. So i tried the 5.1.8 english version and successfully upgraded the firmware. Everything turned to english and was great! I thought that was easy I will try upgrading to 5.2.4 english now. Wrong! I successfully upgraded to 5.2.4 but everything went back to Chinese only.

At this point I would be happy downgrading to 5.1.8 English, but had trouble trying to use the TFTP tool. I have also played with the Hiktools and succesfully changed the language number in some firmware although the browser menu language is still chinese only.

Can anyone help or give me some insight into getting me back to 5.1.8 english firmware and menus?

Thanks for the reply. I tried using the TFTP tool and following directions. It never seems to find my 7284 instead sees my NVR. Even when I am only connected to the camera.

So far I put TFTP file and the 5.1.8 dav in the same folder on my C: Drive. Changed my 7284 IP and IPV4 to 192.0.0.64 subnet 255.255.255.0. Changed my Lan ip to 192.0.0.128. same subnet 255. Hooked laptop directly to camera w/ seperate power. I disable my wireless. Run TFTP but it never finds my camera. Only my NVR on another IP address. Am I using the wrong TFTP tool. Downloaded from hikvision europe.

Don't connect the laptop directly to the camera by the time the NIC picks it ip on the camera boot you've miss the TFTP start point.

Connect your camera and PC to a switch or router.
Set the PC'S ip to 192.0.0.128 (don’t set the default gateway)
WiFi and firewall off.
Start the TFTP, now power on the camera and It should pickup the camera and update the firmware.

whoslooking - Thanks for your help. I downloaded the Hikvision US TFTP auto update. Although using a desktop on a LAN will be very difficult. I have been able to get the TFTP going on my laptop w/ LAN. Wifi and Firewall are off. I have tried directly to the camera and through the a switch. I have tried numerous power OFF, wait 30 secs, then ON without success. The TFTP keeps stopping on the " Completed file[C:\tftpserver\digicap.dav] transmit. I never get Device[192.0.0.64] kernel updated or remaining items shown in examples.

Am I using the wrong firmware file? I am using the Baseline IPD_Raptor_En_V5.1.8 140616(Released).zip from Hikvision Europe. Do I need to install a Chinese 5.1.8 first and then updgrade back to the English version? Or can I mod the language value in the digicap.dav file?

I am looking at the TFTP auto update tool. There is a config file. Inside the file is text:

[lang]
rc=tftprc_en.dll

Will this cause a problem with a chinese camera?

Update - I was not getting a response from the TFTP screen. A quick look through SADP showed the camera back to 5.1.8 firmware. Although it is still in Chinese only via web browser and I am still getting an Error - Language mismatch.....
Should I try updating the 5.1.8 En firmware again that showed up in English before?

Just to have a look at the fw with Hiktools, see if you can change the flag of the EN fw to CN then you will be hopefully good to go

So i have had one hell of a time with this! After successfully downgrading it to 5.1.8 En for hikvision europe. I decided to try loading the same 5.1.8 English software through the web interface. A crazy thing happened. It loaded to 100% rebooted and was in English. Then I was prompted to update web components. After loading new web component and logging back in it reverted to Chinese again WTH! So i decided to try changing the language flag with hiktools. I checked every firmware version on Hikvision Europe. They all have 2 CN chinese language flags. Just in case I converted one to 1 EN ML with no luck. Wow I feel like taking a bat to this hikvision camera!!

Any ideas?
