I love HIKVision Cameras but HATE their lack of support...

I have several HIK's that i believe to be "Western Region" and it would appear that the Firmware that came with my latest purchase is newer than what is available on hikvision.com.au website...

DS-2CD2042WD-I 20160917BBWR64XXXXXXX V5.4.1 build 160624
DS-2CD2542FWD-I 20160216BBWR57XXXXXXX V5.3.6 build 151229
DS-2CD2032-I 20150627CCWR52XXXXXXX V5.2.0 build 150122

Does anyone know if there is a Firmware tool from HIK?
Does anyone know the difference/how to define what Firmware is what? *(Australian)

The response I just received from HIK Support about how to upgrade/source correct Firmware was:
"Can you tell me the reason that you want to upgrade your device?"

WTF...

Any help is greatly appreciated
Cheers
K

Thanks for the reply Q.

I got them from iCamSecurity... just found this on their website:
"We are an authorised Hikvision supplier with a platinum partnership. This guaruntees you support, warranty and authentic firmware versions"

and

HIK Vision have just Called me, and informed me that I can source Australian Firmware from:
Central Security Distribution
csd.com.au

I'll let you know how I go with the above

Cheers

thats a valid question; if you dont have a reason to update then you should just leave em alone.. newer is not always better; and working is always better than broken.

Totally agree...
but when PCI Compliance/Auditors want the latest Firmware on everything an excuse of "newer is not always better; and working is always better than broken" just will not cut it.

And do they know what the latest firmware is for your cameras?

dunno how your putting IP Cameras on the same network as payment processing systems and remaining PCI Compliant; most of the time these networks are kept isolated to maintain compliance.. I highly doubt Hikvision Cameras are certified complaint; regardless of firmware versions..

The Australia distributors always say that when newer firmware can be found online.

That said I do agree with the previous sentiment if it isn't broken don't update them.
