Well, I don't turn on the heater for the equipment room but for the house. But then the equipment room also gets some of that heat. And if I close the door it gets even hotter as the hot air (from the stuff inside) can't escape. I have a couple of outlets in the door but it doesn't help much.

Two winters ago, I stopped using our centralized AC-heat pump and never regretted since. Use space heater instead especially those parabolic ones. Right now, I’m just waiting for the central unit to die and replace it with just a conventional one. Don’t ever get suckered into buying a heat pump if you’re thinking of getting a new AC. They are expensive, full of gimmick, and crappy!!!
