EmpireTech 10th Anniversary (Summer+Prime Day)Sales

Congrats on 10 years! I'm ready to lose the rigged lottery again.
Exactly, I just made another donation to Andy! LOL!

You buy one or more tickets, then sit glued to the computer the day the winners are posted, and end up with either an up day, or a down day. Andy posts the prize list before the lottery, and how many tickets will be issued. You can number crunch your odds of winning and see either how much you'll gain if you win a prize, or lose if you don't. If you win a camera, you got a great deal, with the risk of it being a model that isn't a good fit for you. The winning numbers are random, except with one forum member (you know who you are!) whose numbers are programmed to never win ;)

Yep, I will shortly purchase my tickets to improve the odds of winning for the rest of you :lmao:

I'm ready to upgrade to a 16-ch NVR.

On the new products list (apart from the number of channels) it's unclear what features are the same, or different, from my Empiretech NVR8CH-8P-2AI

Max. decoding capability: 32 × 1080p@30 fps or 8 × 8MP@30 fps.
Max. 384/384/384 Mbps incoming/recording/outgoing bandwidth
Supports IP cameras with a resolution up to 32 MP
Supports AcuPick with up to 8 channels
Supports N+M cluster, iSCSI
AI by Recorder
AI by Camera
Supports EPTZ, and one-click arming and disarming

Also, am I reading correctly that Dahua/Empiretech has switched from a Linux-based OS to a Microsoft-based OS?

Thanks.

Amazon review for the NVR16CH-16P-2AI "Setup was relatively easy. Prior to getting disks set up the "no disk" beep is annoying but that's a nit pick. Cams got found pretty quick and the local UI is relatively intuitive short of only one USB for the mouse and you have to hunt/click your way through passwords and getting CAPS is...odd.

"The big ding on this system is the fact they include a Web based UI, but it's still using outdated tech (ActiveX) in order to provide the more useful functionality. EG: Want to watch multiple camera playback in sync with each other? Nope, gotta have Internet Explorer with their unsigned plugin to do that. No joke, I found some people that actually run Windows98 in a VM in order to use the WebUI properly.

"Since that's my primary means for viewing (cam termination is in a closet) this goes back.
Incredibly sad; I wanted to like this."

Yep he said he was going to add Hikvision OEM back to his lineup as many have requested it.
What are the key differences between the Hikvision NVR's and the Dahua, please?

I don't see a reference to "embedded Linux OS" on the Hikvision NVR7616-16P-2AI / DS-7616NI-M2/16P listing.

Phrased another way - what differences am I likely to notice from my NVR8CH-8P-2AI, please?

What else should I know, please? (I'm leveraging my upcoming birthday as the excuse to upgrade.)

NOTE: It appears that the DS-7616NI-M2/16P was first released in late 2023 Hikvision's M-Series Flagship Pro NVRs Elevate Your Video Security

ALSO: It was said, in an amazon.com review, that Hikvision doesn't support products purchased from amazon. Do they support them if purchased via @EMPIRETECANDY or is the support entirely here on the forum?

So far the Hikvision differences I notice are more POE power availability (200w vs 130w) and 8K max vs 4k max for the NVR16CH-16P-2AI.

HIK NVR is for HIK cameras, Dahua NVR is for Dahua cameras..

main difference is in what ecosystem you want to live (camera, NVR, UI/UX, mobile app)..

this forum is mostly Dahua forum, so You will not find here big love for HIK..

HIK M-line is not AI NVR (like HIK Acusense or DeepinMind series).. It can receive AI information from HIK cameras, but not add extra AI analytics to them...

Both Dahua/HIK resellers / country representatives supports only equipment bought by them (official channels).

If you buy something from Andy, you have support from Andy plus here on the forum...

We have a mixed system, most recent cams are from @EMPIRETECANDY plus some older Reolinks and one other Dahua rebrand.

They're all working on our 8-ch Empiretech/Dahua NVR8CH-8P-2AI - but I need 16 channels now.

In the $400. range I'm taking from your reply that I really want to go with the Empiretech/Dahua NVR16CH-16P-2AI & not the Hikvision?

Thanks.

If you have mostly Dahua cams and want to buy some extra ones, then Dahua NVR is way to go...

ps. I never understood why Andy sells 8 channel recorders at all, if the surcharge for 16 channels is around 20-40 USD...

While I have you ... one more question, please?

If a camera has AI, e.g. the EmpireTech IPC-B54IR-Z4E-S3, is AI in the NVR even necessary?

Is the NVR AI for camera that don't have built-in AI?

Normally not...

But AI NVR can add SECOND ai function to those AI cams...

Like adding Face Detection & Recognition to camera with IVS...

Of course there are AI / bandwith / decoding limits when You use AI on NVR - everything is in the spec sheet.
