+1^^^ to the replies above; rotate cam slightly to its right (outward) to mitigate IR bouncing off your siding at night. The more IR bounce-back the more the camera tries to limit what comes into the sensor causing the rest of the view, your back yard I presume, to become darker.

To answer your specific question, those 2 " bright lights" you see at upper right are either a surface reflecting your cam's IR back to it (vehicle tail lights and DOT reflective tape are really good at that) or the IR from a CCTV camera pointed in YOUR direction.

P.S. - That's a great looking pit in your avatar! :)

What about the tiny white dots on the upper left? Thought they were stars but my mom wanted me to check with experts to see if those were cameras or reflections too. She was concerned about it since her last visit.

That's my deceased pit I loved him to bits he passed away from cancer his name was Peanut and he was 12 years old.

Definitely not stars.

Have you walked over that direction during the day to see if it is just something reflective? That would make the most sense.
Go into the camera's GUI and turn off the IR. If those spots disappear, it is something reflecting your IR.

Excellent idea from Ri220 above.
Hopefully it does have a webGUI or phone app so you can turn off the IR at night just to see what happens to those 2 dots at upper left.

To that end, what is the camera make and model?
That image in your first post....is that on a PC or ????

As far as I know it's called GMK and it's a solar powered camera with 360 degree tilt and rotation. It's from Amazon. I have to wait till tonight and look at the settings. The image is from my phone.

Ok, I'll be VERY surprised if the app will allow you to disable the IR but who knows..... :idk::)

P.S. - Sorry about Peanut, I know exactly what you went through when he passed.

These are the settings. Do I uncheck black and white mode to disable the IR?

Unfortunately that looks like quite a cheap camera with very limited options and probably a small sensor. I presume it's this:

The obvious suggestion here given limited in camera options as Andy (Empire Candy) says, is angle the camera away from the wall more so as little of the wall as possible is in the picture - the more it's angled away the less IR potentially gets reflected. I'd try to alter the picture framing to something like this:

vicoo20240813013230.jpg

Where there's as little of the building / door in the frame as possible. You only need enough to capture someone full height at the door. All that wall is reflecting IR. This probably won't entirely defog the picture, but it should improve it by reducing the amount of IR hitting the wall..

As an Amazon Associate IPCamTalk earns from qualifying purchases.
Try sliding the "Auto Night Vision" switch to the left then maybe there's an "OK" or "Save" button somewhere.
Then you can put it back when you're done.

They are cameras pointed in our backyard. The neighbor tried to talk to my husband today and asked if he could talk and my husband said no. We don't get along with him and have been ignoring him for the past four years. I don't go out in my backyard a lot because he built a five foot deck onto his pool and likes to stand there when my family is outside and watch us. It is Florida so we can't do anything about cameras on his personal property or want to put money towards anything having to do with him. We have a security camera because we are a corner lot and our house is at a cross section with a stop sign one way and my daughter's room is near the road and I have it towards her window for safety.

Thank you for the information everyone I will work on my angle placement. I appreciate the insight and knowledge into what I was looking at and what to look for.

Personally I'd have at least heard your neighbour out. An olive branch is never a bad thing & being at war with a neighbour is never good. The worst that could have happened is he had a complaint in which case you could have listened then dismissed it if not valid and simply carried on as you were. At the best, it might have been an opportunity to bury the hatchet.

As for the neighbours 5ft deck, it looks as if you have quite a big plot there with no plants just a border fence. Why don't you just plant some screening between you and your neighbour? Leylandi Trees are fast growing although can become problematic if not trimmed every year. Bamboo is a favourite tall fast grower also although Bamboo is being turned against in the UK atm as it's now being regarded as invasive and destructive. That said many have it. However, these 2 conroversial fast screeners apart, there are many other trees and bushed you could grow that would screen your neighbour out so he can't see into your garden. I don't know what grows in Florida, but I'm sure you have some tall dense bushes or trees that could be grown as screening.

I don't associate with people that have crimes against children or go into the history as to why we don't associate because the experience can't be understood even if I put every detail because things have happened and I don't want to share them.

We have trees growing against the connecting fences to our properties. They will grow in time and he won't stop us from enjoying our life. I only inquired for more knowledge on what I was looking at and to be able to verify or disprove what my mom wanted me to check on. The night vision on the camera didn't show the trees we have growing there currently we have to replace the first one so I'll keep the species you suggested in mind.

If they are cameras, in all likelihood they are crap consumer grade cameras that wont allow them to see anything very well, if at all.

What wittaj said. They are far away. You will see the IR lights, but they are so far away that, especially at night, they can't see anything if they are consumer grade cams.

The only thing I would add is that everyone is focusing on the neighbor looking at night. As everyone has mentioned, consumer grade cameras are usually useless at night at a distance. However, they can be decent during the day (especially if just watching people and not fast moving objects like cars). If he stands on his deck during the day (as you mentioned) then chances are he is using his cameras during the day as well. In that case he "may" be able to zoom in and watch you. I don't want to concern you but definitely want you to be informed.

I don't know the distance you have there but if you have some binoculars you can try and see if they are cameras during the day. Some Samsung cell phones also have some crazy amount of zoom that you can try.

As CCTVCam mentioned search for fast growing privacy plants for Florida. Just remember that nothing will be that fast that it will grow overnight. It may take a few years. Also, be careful with bamboo as a lot of places in the US have banned it since it can be invasive, especially the "runner" variety. If you do get it, get the "clumping" variety. I had it and it formed a wall within a few years. It still spreads but not like the runners. They can also grew over 12 feet tall. I had some reaching 20 feet. It was crazy.

I wish you luck with whatever you dealing with.

Also, sorry to hear about Peanut. When I lost my pit it was the hardest thing I ever went through. I just rescued another one and they really are the sweetest dogs. It sounds crazy but I've actually used my pits to help people overcome their fear of dogs. I wait till after they overcome their fear to tell them the dogs are pits. :p
